i have talked to various coaches and parents about this. this is just something to throw out there and think about.

get rid of subs. its a waste of time and a joke in most districts. get rid of the highschool division at kids state. why you say. look at the title of it. it says kids state not highschool. now to fix that and make everyone happy. we have kids subs the week before highschool state. then you have highschool state. the following week you hold the kids state including 6 and under and the highschool grand state. then the following week you start freestyle and all your duals and senior nationals. i know that not everyone will agree with this. i know for sure kshaa will not go for it. now they will say things about money. horsestuff this tournament will bring in more money than anyone of those highschool states. then someone will say that the expocenter is not big enough. horsestuff again. it is. so there you go. someone want to add to it or take off with it.

No need to propose it next year. Get the right people involved at the state level. They won't worry about going through the right channels or presenting it to the State Body, they will just push it through.

What is the matter with the state/national tournament series we have now?

What is the definition of:

Diaper Age Group State/Nationals
Preschool - Just out of Diapers State/Nationals
Elementary - K-5th grade State/Nationals
Middle School - 6th grade - 8th grade State/Nationals
High School - 9th - 12th State/Nationals Cadet and Junior

USA Wrestling Age Groups and Weights Below

These are the age groups and weights they are using at USA Wrestling Folk Style Nationals - this is our national governing body

How low should we go? How young?

Scott,

Here are the issues:

#1 Executive Council Gridlock
Too many Executive Council members who have been around too long with NO appetite for change and NO understanding of the goals or our organization. This creates GRIDLOCK at the Executive Council. One district votes hand-in-hand nearly every proposal and MANY times it is completely contrary to the greater good of their constituency.

#2 Executive Council Members who check out after state
Like it or not, this is an 11 months a year job. After Fargo take a month off and reenergize. Make phone calls, talk to the parents, get to know the opportunities and what other states are doing. It is not ok to say "just because we always have" to keep doing the same thing.

#3 Too many boards!!
We have over 40 members that meet as two different boards. The Kids fund this organization and the Corp board is the helicopter parent over the use of these funds. The members of these boards don't have goals for growth, goals for improvement, goals to strengthen our organization. They just sit around for hours saying what is on their mind and nothing really gets done.

#4 Too many Club Directors that don't know!
You have too many club directors like Smokey that think they know better than their members. The state body meeting is comprised of club directors, most of which also do not have an appetite for change. Do ANY of these club directors meet with the parents of their clubs and talk about ideas and change? Do they ask them what they want BEFORE the state body meeting? Clubs need to have GOOD representation of their members not a Director who doesn't want change. The ONLY way we get things to happen THE RIGHT WAY is for our parents to be vocal and involved with their club directors so that change can be voted in.
