It is time to begin preparation for this year's Team Kansas Schoolboy Duals Team. Last year we took 4th in Freestyle (this is the highest placing ever by a Kansas FS/GR dual team), and 7th in Greco. Our goal is to keep the momentum going this year by duplicating our great results from 2013.

Details:

-You must have a 2000 or 2001 birthdate to be eligible.

-We will take two (2) teams this year, Team Kansas Gold and Team Kansas Silver.

-The weight classes are: 70, 77, 84, 91, 98, 105, 112, 120, 128, 136, 144, 152, 160, 175, 190, 210, 265

-We are allowed to take more than one wrestler at each weight per team.

-The tournament runs June 4-8 in Indianapolis. We will have a team camp from June 1-4 at St. James High School in Lenexa. This is a resident camp, with the athletes living, and training together.

-We will have 6 coaches on the trip and numerous coaches/chaperones at the camp and on the trip.

-Wrestlers will receive 2 singlets, 2 shirts and shorts as part of their package.

-The cost for each wrestler is $275. This includes the gear mentioned above, all housing, transportation and meals from June 1 until we return the night of June 8. Please note that USAWKS subsidizes this trip and the actual costs are greater but
each wrestler is only asked to contribute $275.

The state group is trying to set objective criteria for cadets and juniors, and I am told they will use state fs/gr as their qualifier (I will let those coaches and directors announce their own criteria, just my understanding).

At the Schoolboy level, we use both objective and subjective criteria for a number of reasons.

Objective Criteria:

1. Placement at State FS/GR tournament. While not conclusive, if a wrestler does not wrestle here it makes it tough to evaluate and hence, include him on our Schoolboy team. State this year 05/03 in Hutch.

2. Head to head, as well as common opponent competition.

3. Historical folkstyle, FS/GR record.

4. Overall accomplishments.

5. Wrestle-offs at our Schoolboy Camp.
