Just a couple of notes - nice facility. There were a lot of kids wrestling, but there was plenty of room for spectators to sit - without having to be right on top of one another. Having the sitting up off the floor, really helped with being able to see the matches from the stands. I was also impressed that even though wrestling got started an hour late (apparently there were a significant number of scratches) we finished before 2:30 and they were starting to move other matches around.

The only area of improvement needs to be the refs. There were several really bad calls on the mat we were watching. When we asked about the refs, we were told only 3 were experienced. And the experienced refs were put with the younger kids because those kids needed to learn the rules.

Dear Proud Mom,

As I'm sure you can imagine you get a differnt perspective of a match when you are actully out there refing it. It would be well of you to consider that if these referees are inexperienced the only way they are going to get better is lots of practice, I would say give them the benefit of the doubt and realize that they will come around soon enough, its not like its the state finals. On the other hand if they were refs who have been around for several years and are still blowing calls thats a different story.
