In 4A, here's how the rankers fared this season....
*number of placers in the rankings 106: 5 of 6 113: 4 of 6 120: 5 of 6 126: 5 of 6 132: 4 of 6 138: 3 of 6 145: 5 of 6 152: 5 of 6 160: 5 of 6 170: 5 of 6 182: 3 of 6 195: 4 of 6 220: 5 of 6 285: 6 of 6
*overall 64 of 84 placers ranked (77%) *picked 7 of 14 champs correctly (50%) *had 19 of 28 finalists in top 2 (68%) *had 9 of 10 top 10 teams ranked (90%)
Not too bad for the 4A guys!
How'd the others do?

Coaches shouldn't be rankers, they should focus on their athletes and let either the media or an independent party do the research and data analysis required. No argument.
The KWCA should focus on these goals:
1. More members (at least 50% of the coaches) 2. Better relationship with AD's that can make changes to KSHSAA 3. More fan interest 4. Partnership with USAWKS to appeal to all ages of fans, coaches and wrestlers. 5. How do we improve the competitiveness of Kansas wrestlers vs other states.

Wrong question. Is 5A and 6A really this strong? It is hard to say. Nothing against Chief, except that the rankings came out too soon ;), but he is just going off of the information he was given from coaches.
1) I know that not all of the coaching staffs responded.
2) The coaches are guessing, I see at least 10 guys that will not be at the weight reported.
3) Kids will move weights for a variety of reasons.
4) I know of at least one kid that should be ranked that is not even on the list. Adam Ayala at 106 or 113 will be in the top 5, he is a freshmen and I'm sure Chief just doesn't know about him,YET!
5) I see kids that are over ranked, maybe just because of name alone. Jake Beeson is one of them...I could name several in the lower weighted freshmen, but I don't want to hurt too many daddy's feeling so early in the season.
6) I see upper classmen that are ranked on last years performance that wont even place this year in their own class.
7) I don't see upperclassmen that performed poorly last year that I guarantee will place this year over ranked opponents.
Chief is doing this for FUN right now. Just not accurate enough without the kids wrestling yet. Give it a few more months, it will change A LOT.
Look at the first All Class Rankings....Read My Post immediately following and then Look at the final All Class Ranking. I'm going to give myself a 100% for Accuracy.

All Rankers rock!! I appreciate the tremendous amount of time that you spend helping promote our kids and sport! The rankings help promote our sport! Say what you want about rankings but this crazed sports world loves to talk about seeds, ranks, upsets, favorites and underdogs in wrestling and all sports. Great job fellas! Oh and by the way if you have a hobby like (fishing hunting, ranking, golf, bowling, etc) and you are a coach, you should probably run it by,"Will", to see if that is ok!! It sounds like hobbies diminish the sport of wrestling in Kansas. Man I crack myself up.
It’s a great day to be alive
