With the qualifiers now completed, let me give a little advice to the young persons who will be wrestling in Topeka next weekend. Enjoy the experience, these are the good old days that you hear your parents and grandparents talk about. To many times in life we burn through the days without letting ourselves stop and enjoy what it is that we are doing. I recently took a group of young persons to the AAU track and field championships. Each one of them had put in many months, and years of training. But, the best bit of coaching I did for the weekend was to tell each one of them before they competed to enjoy it, from the moment you arrive at the arena until the moment you leave. Enjoy the sights and sounds of what you have worked so hard for. Appreciate your parents, coaches and anyone else who helped you to get there, understand that each one of them made sacrifices too. If you are fortunate enough to recieve a plaque be proud, you deserve it. If not understand that you are still among the 16 best wrestlers in the state, and that you deserved to be there. For those of us that are way past our prime, all we have is the memories, and believe it or not, you too will be in our position some day. So take it all in, enjoy the experience. Have a great weekend, and good luck.
