I am curious about what weight Mark is wrestling in at state, he was very impressive at Tulsa,Salina, and Wichita tourneys and I have sorta lost track of him through the qualifiers. What weight is he and how has he done up to now?

he is wrestling 14 175 and is doing very well. He won both district and sub district even beating a pretty decent freshman ryan garrett at district. The display that went on after the match was terrible by garrett though i mean what a bad sport that kid needs to learn how to take a loss. I can understand the frustration but you have to control yourselt a little better than that i hope that they match up again at state so we will be able to see that match up again

I saw Mark Kolmer wrestle last year. I was very impressed. I commented about him a couple of times last year. He is a very athletic bigger kid. He was very smooth on his feet. When I saw him wrestle last year, I though he was tall and lean looking for the weight group he was in. I believe he had a growth spurt and had moved up a couple of weight classes from where he was the previous year. I saw him several times use a wicked ankle pick move that was extremely effective. He beat some very good wrestlers during the year in his weight group. He was dominant in some of those matches against some former high state placers. Last year as a first year 14&U seventh grader, he went all the way to the Kids State final and lost a close match to Romero Cotton who had just won the High School State Championship. Mark Kolmer is one of those rare bigger kids like Atticus Disney, Jaydan Bird, Elijah Madison and a few others who have the ability to become State placers in the heavier divisions as a high school freshman. I really think he will be a high school placer next year as a freshman. My guess is that he will land at 171 or 189. I think he maybe could have accomplished it this year if he had been a freshman this year. We will be hearing about him for the next four years at the high school level. If he wants it, I think he has the potential to become a college wrestler.
He beat another very good wrestler in winning against Ryan Garrett. Ryan is also a very good wrestler and he had a great freshman year at 171. I believe Ryan could win more than one high school State title during his career. It should be a good match if they meet again at State. This is a match that I would like to see.

They are on opposite sides of the bracket, so they would have to either meet on the backside or in the final. My guess is that it would be the final, because I have to think at least one if not both will make it to the final.
