Does finishing in the top ten (10) have any real significance?
The serious contenders for team title in 4A, at this EARLY point in the season appear to be, in alphabetical order, Abilene, Columbus, Goodland, Santa Fe Trail, Scott City, and Ulysses.
I am certain there will be other schools which I have failed to mention which will rise to the occasion as the season progresses.

yes I think being in the top ten does have much significance especially for teams working to get there, then top 5 and top 3

Holton and Royal Valley are both better than they have been. They have improved as a team but to do well at state you really have to look at how individuals will do. I think Royal Valley has the better team in that regard. Holton has Strawn who will contend for a title and that adds up to a good start on points. Beyond that they have some kids who can win a match or two at state but hard to see any other placers. Hamer maybe if he has a good tourney. Royal Valley has 5 kids who on a good day could place at state but thay won't get any in the finals. DelToro is likely the best of the lot but not a Bedore or Lewis so he can't get in the finals. Terry placed as a freshman but frankly I am not sure he is as good now as he was as a freshman. Tollefson placed as a freshman and then grew and is kind of hot and cold. Goodman and O'Toole are in my mind the two kids who have improved the most in the last year or so, and I would pick O'Toole to place but not high. I think Royal Valley could place just barely in the top ten and Holton just outside the top ten.

Abeline has the six quality guys that Nigel talks about. in opposition to that you have the group of wrestlers that Scott City, Ulysses, Clay, Goodland and Columbus will put up, and the individual efforts that will come from mulvane, Pratt, Colby, and Rose Hill, and it will all come down to the bracketing that the guys earn from their regional finishes. 4a in my opinion is really too close to call this early. Anyway that is my top ten, and I hope half of it is right.
