Here's the other side of the coin to a subject I started about KS wrestling turning off DI coaches. These are the numbers of NCAA DI qualifiers by state. KS does exceptionally well for such a small state coming in at 13th with seven qualifiers. I believe those kids are Jacob Klein (4A),Shawn Bunch(6A), Joe Johnston (6A), Scott Coleman (6A), Justin Dyer (6A), Matt Murray (4A), Jake Kreigbaum (4A). Can't argue against facts like these. Kansas wrestlers are cutting it at the highest levels and more should have the opportunity to do so. These guys are a credit to their state. PA 59 OH 35 CA 29 NJ 28 MI 16 IL 15 IA 12 NY 12 WI 11 VA 10 FL 9 IN 8 KS 7 ID 6 MN 6 TN 6 CO 6 OK 6 OR 5 MO 5 MD 4 NV 4 NC 4 SC 3 AZ 3 WA 3 GA 3 an 2 UT 2 SD 2 NM 2 MA 2 HI 2 TX 1 NH 1 AK 1

Wow, Texas only has 1 D1 wrestler! That is just pathetic for a state with that population.

They just added wrestling to their high school sports less than 10 years ago (I think that's right, anyone able to verify it?). What do you want?
Truth be known, TX is quickly becoming a state with a decent rep. I think it was Highland Park that was ranked nationally not too long ago.

The biggest surprise to me on this list is that Oklahoma only has 6. Kansas has more than each of our surrounding states. MO = 5, CO=6, OK=6, and NE=0(is this right?).
How many D1 schools are there in Pennsylvania?? Does anyone have a list so I don't have to look it up? Where's Salyer when you need him?
I'm looking forward to watching all 7 of ours next week.

Pennsylvania has quite a bit off the top of my head:
Edinboro, Lock Haven, Clarion, Pittsburgh, Penn State, Slippery Rock, Lehigh, Bloomsburgh, Duquense, East Stroudsburgh, Millersville, Kutztown, Univ of Penn.
That's all I can think of off the top of my head.

That's off the top of your head? You need to get out more Swayz. I'll give you Penn, Penn State, Pittsburg, Edinboro, Lehigh and even Slippery Rock, but Kutztown & East Stroudsburgh? No, now you are scaring me.

Just thought I would bump the topic. Our Kansas boys represented well- 3 A.A.'s two of which were in the finals!! Unfortunately Murray (runner-up last year) injury defaulted so we may have been able to add one more to the count. (Does anyone know if Murray wrestled Thursday or not, I didn't get there until the morning round Friday was almost over).
Any fool can criticize, complain, and condemn- and most do.
