WSEWC, I see that you and your 10 posts have your panties in a twist over some of my hilarious jokes. (This is probably due to envy over either my witty banter or my #1 avatar. Don't worry, my friend. It's common.)

Will Manhattan win Newton? Probably not. But does winning Newton make you the best team in the state? No. Last year, Hat Town and Norton (two of the top 3 teams in the state) did not win Newton. Who did? Bishop Carrol, I believe. Did they win state? No, they lost to Turner (the other top 3 team), who lost to Manhattan at Salina South. My senior year, when we won Newton, we were not the best team in the state. My junior year, when we were the best team in the state (in my opinion), we didn't win Newton. So what does all this prove?

It proves that WSEWC is using weird and wacky statistics to refute a joke I made. Wrestlers get sick. Wrestlers get better over the season. One tournament means nothing, especially in the first two weeks in the season, when some wrestlers are still fat or battling injuries from football.

Is 5A the weakest class in the state? Overall, I would say absolutely, and I feel most non-5A people would agree. However, they have had some awesome wrestlers and awesome teams in the past. I don't doubt that. Are Turner, BC, Ark City, Campus and Scrawnee Whites good? Of course. Am I still going to make fun of them for being in 5A? WSEWC, that's like asking if I'm going to make fun of FatBat for being fat.

You, my little lady, need to stop FREAKING OUT.

And just so you know, Garden City isn't really expected to be that awesome this year. Using them as a "6A powerhouse" doesn't really apply in this situation. Better luck next time.

WSEWC - Shawnee Heights and Valley Center were the highest placing Kansas teams, but they were not the BEST Kansas team. Sante Fe Trail was a victim of the pool they were in, losing closely to Chapparal. Had they been in either Shawnee Heights or Valley Centers pool, they would have finished 2nd in the tournament.

Garker, the thing you said about 5a is wrong and you knowit. you need to un-stick yourself form you and your preppy manhatten boys and face the facts. if any class can be labeled worst in the state its 6a. plain and simple. the best class in the stae is either 4a or 5a, and i think most folks will agree to that.

i beg to differ... have u ever been to western kansas? doesnt sound like it... i would personally come and get you from your sheltered existance to experience the great atmosphere of northwest kansas wrestling. im NOT taking anything away from 4a or 6a, you have good programs, just maybe not the fans and support. but i AM taking something away from 5a...yes there are good wrestlers in 5a, just maybe not as good as you think you are. 5a... welcome to the "Jv-A" kansas.

Ha. I do believe 15's avatar fits very nicely, and I'd like to declare a "swish."

Granted, like I said, not everyone in 5A is bad. (See: above post.) In fact, in 2002, Bishop Carrol may have been the best team in the state. However, I still believe, and I think most people do, that it is the weakest class.

I could go either way on 321a/4a/6a. I mean, each class always has great teams. They all have strengths and weaknesses. Let's just agree in this topic that 5A is weaker. (Excluding Turner, who is granted 6A status because of their hilariousness.)

Man, I haven't read any of this topic until tonight. But just to get myself up to speed I'll say this. Most of Kansas wrestling rules, 5A drools. And that about covers it.

And like everyone else, I'll exclude Turner from 5A because they're freaking sweet.

On a side note, Prant, Manhattan has been accused of being preppy? Is this true? Maybe our high schools have a little bit more in common than I thought.

And on another side not I know a kid named Matt Taylor who said you were pretty sweet in high school. Yey for you.

If 4A > 321A, and 5A < 4A, 6A > 5A,

and ..... Wow did it not occur to anyone that it really doesn't matter who has the best team in the state? I would venture to say that the only thing that really matters is who is the best team in each class, cause thats who is going to get the trophy at state.

Of course I have a bias towards 4A teams, but just as a poke at 5 & 6A, where are you guys gonna have state at again next year? I'm sorry I could not resist.

Wow, Igel DOES know math. Well done with your equations, my friend. Well done.

MancerL--calling Manhattan "preppy" would be like calling SM East "poor." The characterization doesn't fit at all. (After all, this is the town that holds the Country Stampede every year.) I think we just get labeled that sometimes because 1) We're the only big school in the area, 2) We're not Junction City, and 3) We're pretty good in most sports. (Note: not the best. Just good.)

I think when he typed "preppy" he meant to type "witty." It's a pretty common mistake.

Yes Yes, I agree with Nigel. The State trophy in each class, is what really matters when it is all said and done. My personal guarentee (123a thing) was a poke at the funny little post of stat-master6. He can't really mean that.

Maybe we need a Grand State Duals to calm you ol'boys down. I think it varies from cycles to cycles, sort of year to year but sometimes there are some quality wrestlers on the same team at the same time and man what a joy to coach and watch.

Garker, You are the one who needs to stop freaking out. I was only defending while you as always were attacking. You are the only one who "was" making derogatory remarks towards others. I guess that is the only language that you understand, so I guess that I must speak it to talk to you, because you do not listen otherwise.
You must have an inferiority complex because you only got second in the spelling bee. Although you must know that I did not think any less of you for that.
Anyone who was 18-18 as a senior, two and a barbeque at state, has got no business trying to put down someone who placed in the top 6 at state (not 5A) four years in a row.
I have seen you wrestle, like a little lady I might add, and I have seen Nigel wrestle, who wrestled like a beast and was a multiple placer in 4A. Nigel would punk you badly even though he has a bad knee.
But Garker, don't get your undies in a knot because I am just having a little fun, you know playing around, you know playing your game.
And I also want you to know that I have relatives in Manhattan and have roots there as well, but I am sure that does not matter because I live in Wichita and am tired of people crapping on 5A.
I guess that it is your turn now to punk me, but it better be good or I will probably not respond as I am growing weary of your antics and I do believe that I have said enough. Swish!

You should check out the history of wrestling in Kansas a little more thoroughly. I guess when Beloit(3A) was on a roll we should have done away with all of the other classifications in Kansas because they were beating all of the schools 4-5-6A. As far as the Bobcat Classic goes, Effingham (ACCHS)(3A) won it the first two years.

Quick correction,

My knees are just fine, always have been, its my shoudler thats bad, but it seems to work well enough for me to slap the mat for a pinfall, or signal points, so I suppose thats all I need.

Coach Neil,
I do not need to check the history, I am well aware of it. Sure 321A was the best "then". Kansas wrestling was born out Northwest in 321A. That was then, this is now. Back then, the big schools just cared about basketball. That is not the case now. That is why we have seen the rise of programs like Manhattan, Carroll, Turner, Goddard, Hutchinson, etc. And Ark City has always been the bomb although they are a little down now. No dis to Effingham, they were bad to the bone when they won the Bobcat but the Bobcat is much tougher now. Norton has not won the Newton yet and they are one of the premier 3A teams right now. It will be interesting to see if they can when it this year. I was never hacking on the small schools, that is not my bag. I am just tired of people hacking on the big schools. And I certainly do not want to get into another argument.

Someone recently told me that Garden City and Derby were not that good. Well, if they are #2 and #5 in the state, according to the rankings that came out today, 6A is weakcity.
