For those of you that weren't lucky enough to be at Wichita Southeast for regionals today, they had a very unorthodox version of the Star Spangled Banner. Some dude from WSE played a sweeeeeeeeeeeeet version of the Banner on guitar, which was very Hendrix-esque. Many of the old fogeys/honkies in attendance did not quite get the distortion pedal and face-melting guitar squealies, but anyone up on their rock history thought it was awesome. Does anyone know what this guy's name is? I would like to start a band. We could call it "Kathleen Turner Overdrive." I play bongos only.
Congrats, Aquinas! Great job, Hat Town! Salyer Rules!

Well Abilene's National Anthem was far from sweet, but the introduction of the finalists was awesome...the guy from the top part of the bracket would emerge from the SE doors to a dark gym and spotlight and run to the mat as his photo popped up onto a projection screen. Then his opponent would emerge from the SW doors in a similar fashion. National Anthem was the only thing wrong at Abilene...tournament was updated within 30 seconds of the completion of a weight class at the tournament, and wasn't that much more off on the net.

coffeyville regional intro's to the finals were pretty cool. they had a white sheet/projection screen stretched out standing up on the floor with lights behind it and when a wrestler would be announced he would stand behind it and warm up or whatever and all you could see was his shadow, then he'd run out.....it was sorda like the austin powers thing with the tent.

I agree. I thought the Anthem was awsome at South East. And like Dingbat said, the old foggies and what not didn't like it. I had talked to the kid b4 all that happened, and he was a pretty cool guy, but I didn't catch his name or anything.
