In a post uder the 4a preview I had entered a note on the Hahn family from Norton, comparing their accomplishments on the mat to that of the
Seger triplets of Ulysses. Well today I got an email from ulysses illuminating me on the present status of the Seger family. This year there will be Ryan Seger, Tolan Seger, (a freshman) and also the defending state champion at the hvy. division, Tony Lewis, whose MOTHER was a sister to the Titanic Trio. So, I have been updated on that issue. Are there any other
sons/grandsons of state champions that are wrestling this season?

St Francis has the following

Brady Frewen son of Mike Frewen
Gabe and Jordan Gienger, Sons of Kelly, Grandsons of Warren Gienger and Elton Keller.

Dylan Loyd son of Daryl Loyd

Luke Keller, grandson of John Keller
Nick Keller , son of Perry Grandson of Elton
Grant Keller, son of Tom , Grandson Of Ed who is in the wrestling hall of Fame.

Derek Ross, Son of Doug Ross.
That's all I can think of off the top of my head. I would guess about every school in NW KS could come up with like this.

Thank you for the reply! I listen to a lot of claims that the big city folks make about how much better and more advanced their programs are than the "second rate" 321a schools (plus Colby and Goodland) but there isn't any substitute for heritage. go very far east from your league and everyone else is a newcomer to the sport. It seems to be fitting that the hall of fame is in colby where wrestling was strongest first in this state.

Actually 11 of the first 17 state champion teams (and there was only one class in those days) came from Wichita. Wichita East-9 and Wichita North-2. Starting with the 22nd state tournament St. Francis won 5 in a row and after the first 25 state meets Wichita East had won 10, with St. Francis having 7 and Oberlin 4. Don't take that to mean that I disagree with your statement on the heritage of wrestling out west.
