Leading 15-3 in the third period, Weisaar applied a front headlock to Piper's Nick Jobe and back-tripped him. Initially, an illegal hold was called (at least until the call was changed to a slam). Jobe was injured — legitimatly — on the move, and was unable to continue. Weisaar was able to wrestleback and finish third.

That's too bad, it would have been interesting to see Weisaar and Pingleton in the finals match.

Check the brackets — that could still happen in the State finals

I think it is important that I address what went on at Regionals this past weekend. I owe an apology to the entire wrestling community. I believe that wrestling is superior to ALL other sports in teaching athletes to be strong of mind as well as of body. I lost my head and let emotions take over. I stand by my belief that the front headlock trip is a legal move when you have the head and arm encircled, and it is not possible to slam someone from a front headlock trip since they never leave the mat. The official in that situation is an excellent official who I believe is one of the best in the state. I think he made a mistake but he is human and I did not handle the situation very well. I and the Piper athlete and Coach have spoken. I apologized to both of them for my behavior. It was in no way aimed at them. I wish them the best of luck at the state tournament and I respect them a great deal. Wrestlers and their coaches are almost always "class acts" who typically demonstrate a great deal of character. Once again I apologize to the wrestling community for allowing my passions to overule common sense. Coach Crouse

Well said Coach. If there was no passion, then you'd probably be in the wrong business.

lol relaxe coach, you ain't the first coach that ever lost his head and got pitched out of a tournament and I say that through experience lol. It happens when you give a darn. Good luck at state and quit beating up on yourself.

Most of the people I've seen get kicked out of a tournament are good, caring people who lost their cool in the heat of the moment defending their wrestler. Unfortunately, most of the ones I've seen get totally out of line and unreasonable have not been kicked out. Sounds like you made proper amends. Good luck this weekend.

Coach, I grew up in Atchison and I know from experience... take Coach Andy Carrier and Coach Baumgartner.... all had fire and brimstone... but were the best coaches AHS ever had in Football. Now you go for it.... apologies accepted and the best of luck to you and all your wrestlers.... Good luck to Jake.... Redmen all the way....

I dont mean to stir anything up here, but I dont believe the coach will be allowed to even enter the building, let alone coach his athletes at the State Tourney will he??? Wasnt this a Qualifying series and if you are tossed from one of the events you are gone from the remainder? Maybe someone can shed some light here.
