I was kinda wondering too even though I get the main gist.
1.record 2.head to head 3. common opponents
It's something close to that

Looked at the factors last weekend.
1.Head to Head 2.Common Opponents 3.Record against known quality wrestlers 4.Record at that weight class 5.Overall record
This allows for a very good wrestler who possibly missed time due to illness or injury to not be "punished" if he has not as many wins as another. Of course alot of the seedings are based on how well the coach can argue for his wrestler, so try and get a coach who might also teach debate!!

Well we would be in trouble as our debate coach isnt a very good wrestler. Thanks for the information.

Swade didn't you coach wrestling last year? The criteria has not changed nor has the bracket placing.

Yes fanatic I'm was pretty sure, just wanted to know some more, was not sure how much wt. a returning state qualifier carried in a seeding meeting, even though there was evenly matched kids who had split or lost a head to head. That's really what I was looking for!!!

Being a returning state qualifier is going to have very little impact, especially when they have met head to head this season. head to head is #1

As a mom, I am really unclear on the seeding. Could someone please explain? I see two different ways posted here. Is the record the most important, or head-to-head? What if you have a three way split but one has a bad record. A beat B 7-4, B beat C6-3, C beat A? A has a record of 25-2, B has a record of 21-5, C has a record of 6-3. How does it work? What if there is another guy who is 24-9, but hasn't wrestled any of the above? How does his record play into it? Can you see why it confuses me?

head to head is supposed to be the #1 criteria. if there are three kids with a split or two kids that have wrestled more than once you have to look to the next criteria. This often gets to be the heart of some heated meetings with each coach pushing for an edge, who won last etc. The next thing is record among common opponent and sometimes you have more than one common opponent and can have different results. When it gets down to record it is supposed to be record against acknowledged strong competition. You will always see a few kids around the state with great records but have met poor competition, and some kids with several losses all to great opponents. It is never fool proof, but hopefully it doesn't get distorted too bad.
