Over all the officating at State this last weekend was great but there are those few who shoud not be there but should consider retirement. As Coaches I think it is about time to start getting more involved in who is sent to the biggest tournment in the State. I am not sure how an official is chosen but would like some response on how they are chosen and what we might do to make sure we have the best that Kansas has to offer and not the good ol boy program to just give them a paycheck.

The officials for the State Tournament are selected by each District. Each District sends us six names and we hire the first five (5 x 4 Districts = 20 officials). As tournament directors, we select the Head Official and one other from the list of names that have been submitted.

If you have problems with an official that was selected by your District, be sure and have your club director get involved in the selection process. Each District has their choice in submitting six names to us.

I believe this is the way it goes.

We are asked by our respective district directors for our top 3 nominations, these must be in by a deadline. They then are to get those on to the next level which determines our refs for this tournament.
