The Goodland regional is by far the toughest with the top 4 teams and other good teams like Scott City and Ulysses, that seems kind of unfair. Please post your opinions that could cost one of these teams out of this regional a state title.

I will say this. I bet you see more #1 seeds get beat by #4 seeds this year at state 4A then ever before. There will be several 4 seeds from Goodland that place in the top 4 in state. And I would not be shocked to see that in some weight classes that the 1,2,3,4 finishers in the Goodland regional finish the exact same order at state. again ridiculous Regional!!!!!

I agree with you guys. That Goodland regional is incredibly tough. But, if you are going to have a regional at Goodland, who would you send instead of Clay, Abilene, and Concordia? I haven't looked at the regionals that close, but who would you send to Goodland in their place?

The Goodland regional will be very, tough. Just so you don't think this is limited to this year and to 4A consider the following:
Last years 6A regional at Garden City had these teams:
Hutch 1st at state
Maize 4th
Campus 5th
Garden City 8th
plus
Dodge 12th & Wichita West 13th

A regional probably as bad as the Goodland regional:
5A Bishop Carroll last year:

Bishop Carroll 1st at state
Ark City 2nd
Mulvane 3rd
Goddard 5th
Winfield 6th
Kapaun Mt. Carmel 9th
This year Junction City 6A has #2 Manhatten, #4 Emporia, #6 Derby, #7 Junction, #8 Topeka
while #1 Hutch, #3 Garden and #5 Maize are all at Maize.

Valley Center 5A Has #1 Ark City, #4 Wichita Campus,#5 Bishop Carroll,#7 Wichita West, #9 Winfield, plus Kapaun Mt. Carmel

This regional has the 3rd ranked wrestler in 103. The 1,2, and 4 ranked wrestler in 112. The 1,3,4, and 5 ranked wrestler at 119. The 1,2,4,5 and 6th ranked at 125. The 4 and 6th ranked at 130. The 2,3, and 6th ranked at 135. The 2nd ranked at 140. The 1st and 5th at 145. The 2nd and 6th at 152. The 3rd, 4th and 5th at 160. 5th ranked at 171. The 1st ranked at 189. The 1st, 3rd and 5th at 215. And last in the heavyweight they have no one ranked. The lower weights are stacked in this regional. 5 out of 6 in the 125 weight class that means if they stay one out of 6 that are ranked will not even qualify. It will make for some good regional wrestling but, might hurt some of these teams at state.

Wow, what a great tournament? What more could you ask for...there will be no team in the regional who is going to get a free ride to state. In my opinion I think a lot of individual state champs are going to come out of this region, and I also think the team champ will be out of this region. It is going to be an exciting weekend! Goodland will be tough though since it is in their home town. I am originally from Goodland, and still have family there. The Goodland team will have lots of support from their town. I think it will be a race til the very last match, and I dont plan on missing it.

the Goodland regionals is stacked. It is going to be a fun tourney and i believe that whoever comes out of top and sends the most kids to state will, probably win state. It will be tough and our team will be ready.
