Just wanted some input to what others out there have to say about who in the area would they pick to be the Salina Journals first team at 130 lb, and for that matter, what you may have a a first teamer in any weight. At 130 lb I would have to pick Martin from Ellsworth. Now hold it a minute. I know some of you might say that thats just because I am from Ellsworth. Well that is not true. THis is why. Martin lost ony two matches all year and his final record was 40 wins 2 losses. Both losses came two state tournament champions. One was to Johnson and one was to McReynolds. Both matches were lost by a total of two points and both were in the finals. Martin defeated Johnson three times during the year and those matches are just as good of wins as any other. Martin beat Grater from Clay Center and Johnson lost to him. Zousas never wrestled Martin or Johnson but lost bad to Grater in Beloit. I know, some will say that he was sick. I would pick Martin because of these things. But I think that it would be tough to pick any one wresler at 130. My guess is that the Journal will pick Zouzas. What are some of your thoughts. Please no trash talk. Just opions. THANKS

My opinion is that either Johnson or Zouzas should get this. I couldnt tell you who deserves it more because they never wrestled.

Zouzas. He did lose big to Grater, but the whole South wrestling team was sick that weekend, including Luke. His only other loss was by injury default when he hurt his ankle and could not continue (he was leading)

This is a very tough weight all around the state!! Zousas would have to be my number one pick(he would not lose to Grater if he was healthy),with Lein second and Emory a close third. Lien dominated Nick Johnson in the East/West classic until the third period where he stalled out and let Nick score some of those points. Emory,of course destroyed the 6a state state champ in the East/West dual, and beat about evereyone one else in the state. I would have liked to have seen Emory and Lien wrestle, it would have been a lot closer match. (I do realize that Emory & Lien are not eligable due to location, but those are my thoughts on the top three 130lbers)after that any thing could happen in such a tough division

Emory barley beat luedke and luedke should have won that match if you watched it. Just a thought.

Should of, would of, could!!! That's a great story isn't it? The fact remains the same. I belive Luedke was losing to Terrel in the third period before he pinned him, does that mean Terrel should have been in the championship with Emory? I think not!! There are a ton of great wrestlers at that weight if they wrestled again it might turn out completey different but great wrestlers always find a to win. That's why Emory won and would probably do it again!

Could somebody try to post the All area team on the message board, since the SalJournal Sports Page never updates wrestling.

ok!!! being sick has nothing to do with the criteria for all area wrerstling so quit making excuses, he lost to grater fair and square, and lien was whipping him until the third period, that don't mean anything, martin whipped him and put him on his back three times, u have to be able to wrestle three periods, not 2
