I just want to say n let everyone now how good wrestlers from kansas represented tha homestate! im sure everyone will agree w/ me that the kansas wrestlers swept up the competition there. Many people won the thing! Caldwell wrestled great!, Aaron Ely-(Outstanding Wrestler)wrestled real good even though he wrestled up a class than what he will wrestle at!, i think Madle, the Flyns,(3,4) Fox-(3rd) Stephens and many others did exceptionaly well. i think that if we went all together as one team we for sure would have won the Out of State Team Plaque! Congratulations to KANSAS! lol
what are some other opinions?

We have a chance to do this at Catoosa and Broken Arrow this weekend, we just need people to go. 2 tournaments in 2 days and for 15 year olds, and some 16 year olds, they can do 4 in 2 days. See the other thread about it. So far we have like 7 guys going.

Mike, Tell me more. Garret and I are going to Catoosa, but I didn't know about Broken Arrow. How will you do both?

It was a great tournament with tough competition from across the country. Kansas wrestlers faired well. Caldwell and Ely in the lighter weights both took 1st; Fox at 125lb (3d); Madle brothers looked great with Tylor taking 3rd; and my brother and I finished strong (4th , 3d). Sean lost his first match and had to fight his way on the back side of a 64-man bracket for 3d and 4th. Slammers even took one of our coaches down (D.J. Rainey) who took 2d in the open division at 125lbs. There were several other Kansas wrestlers but I did not keep good track on how the did.
The tournment was a great high school pre-season event and it would be nice to see some more Kansas wrestlers next year. Colorado wrestlers have a bit of advantage. Rumor was they had satellite weigh-ins and most looked heavy. Also, the announcer (each year by the way) tends to play up the Colorado studs each match (e.g. “on mat #2, three time state champion and all American….) without even considering announcing the names of the other out of state opponents. Besides that, it is a very organized and competitive tournament that I hope more Kansas attends next year.

This tournament was fun but the last 2 hours sucked. I know I wrestled 5 matches in about 2 hours and 15 minutes. It was worth it though. Bo beard i think is his name from goddard took 1st at 145, 15 and under. Just a name i didnt see get mentioned.
