After the first day is over, who does everyone have taking the Big Show in all classes? I don't know much about 4A, but I say that Norton was ahead by a bunch in 321a. Go Jays, boo Male Kann.

I saw that my Steve friends were down by very few points, which is a good sign. May the back side treat you well.

Finally, I would like to know what the wrestling junkies think about The Hat's chances. If I would have been given the opportunity to be 10 points down by the end of the first day last night, I probably would have taken it. However, some of the draws worry me...Someone who has seen the action--how does it look?

Go Hat. Win State. (Again.)

And congrats to Fris and Hoshaw from being 1 point away from the state finals. Now win the rest of your matches.

Go Jeb and Bingham. Upset city, baby. Take state. (And Bingham, get a haircut.)

Well I don't think to much of a couple of Manhattans wins where instead of getting up and wrestling like men they laid on the matt and faked injuries after recieving a penalty point. Just as soon as their injury time ran out and they sinched the auto win they got up and walked off easily.!!! I won't name their names they know who they are.

I don't believe you have the slightest clue as to what you're talking about in this post. You should really reconsider what you were talking about.

Mike Church, that post is absolutely ridiculous. To think Hat Town would fake an injury is ludicrous at the state tournament is ludicrous. Last time I checked, didn't win a state title last year or place 2nd in the state by "faking an injury." If you're referring to Wagner's consolation finals match, he was knocked out cold by a headbutt. (One doesn't just fall unconscious during wrestling--something has to make you. In this case, it was Hussein's head.)

I would criticize your spelling, because you write like an 8th grader. Instead, however, I'll criticize your maturity level. To get on here and accuse a group of kids of cheating or belittle their accomplishments is childish. As an "adult" and someone who has been around the sport for a long time, you should respect what Manhattan did this weekend, which was wrestle manly after a bad first round to almost pull off another state title. As much as I criticize people for spelling like elementary schoolers, it's much worse to act like one. You, Mike Church, are not a class act.

A lot of what is wrong in wrestling today, in my view, comes from the attitude that Mr. Church has reflected. As a wrestler, as a sportsman, as a person, and, yes, as a Christian, if you choose to take that title, you are responsible for your actions on the mat. If you choose to use illegal means to better your position, or to intentionally injure your opponent, then you deserve to lose. When you slap a figure four on an opponent's neck and crank on it to avoid losing a takedown, with no regard to the fact that you are twisting on a man's spinal cord with muscles that can squat 300 pounds or more with an incredible adrenaline rush behind the effort, or when you run an arm against the joint and press your whole body behind it while your opponent is anchored to the mat, or when you pick the guy up and throw him on his head,or neck, or when you just decide the crowd would love to see some thug hit his opponent with the crown of his head as hard as his neck muscles can propel that weapon, Then you deserve to lose. period. To ridicule the opponent because he cannot continue, or just decides that he has had enough of an illegal battering, is what has given the ugly side of this sport a real boost in the last few years. The officials were pretty much on the top of their game this year, with few serious injuries, and I really commend them for that. There were occasional bad calls, some really bad, but none that involved a wrestler getting hurt needlessly. Good job stripers! (by the way, Prant, hit that edit button, "is ludicrous" only needs to appear once-- I think this is the first time error for you , so I will try to be gentle, since you were the one that instructed me on the use of the finest poster's pal, the edit button.)

I wasn't there and am not responding one way or the other, but if I'm interpreting this correctly, a wrestler was knocked out cold and then returned to finish the match? I was under the impression that if you are knocked out you can not return to wrestle that day unless a M.D. releases you. Is this correct?

Grant Parker,
I wouldn't be insulted if you did criticize my spelling since you have done it to so many on this forum. That shows your maturity level!! You write like a CNN reporter about half the truth.
I was five feet from the match. Even the ref looked straight at me and rolled his eyes at what was happening. I'm sure your thinking that you coming on this forum and bashing people (not just me) but many for their spelling/grammar makes you a class act. Your first class alright.

After all the posts I read it seems like all you can do Mike Church Sr. is criticize any wrestler. Back in the Grater vs. Cornejo match all you did was criticize the match, maybe you should get a different point of view on wrestling instead of critizing everyone.

Brettimus,
I don't think I was critical of the match Grater vs. Cornejo, I just didn't think Grater should have been OW but I'm fine with the outcome of the vote by the coaches. Also I didn't think the Grater vs Cornejo match was what it was billed to be.
I agree that they are two great wrestlers, my son was in the same jr. league as Joe C. and we enjoyed many weekends at tournaments. Also I can go along with NurseKs now that I have expressed myself. Now I'm going next door to bring over the 6th grader and let him read some Slant Parker post so we can come up with a profile.

I don't think he was talking about one match like the finals or consolation finals. I think wrestling during the day. First of all the Hat people do not like any questioning and second of all......we have all seen some guys act like they are more hurt than they really are get up and smile like nothing happened a few seconds later.
