171 was not as stacked as everyone thought it would be because Flory was not there and Stienmetz also did not wrestle. Does anyone know why Stienmetz did not wrestle. Was it because Payne has his number and he did not want to wrestle

I heard that he hurt himself lifting weights.

Even with Stienmetz out. Take Malloy, Cisper, Payne, Pursel, and Weller and you have a **** tough top 5. I think coming in they were a combined 75-2 this year.
Yes, Stienmetz would have made it even tougher, but it was still one of the toughest you can find. Several of the weights were that way.

Just curious what some of the big match ups in this braket were. Who met in the semis? Who beat Payne and Pursel?

there alot of good wrestlers in 171 but i still think Payne is the best and when it comes down to crunch time at state he will win it

Paola, STA, and Shawnee Heights are all 5A aren't they? That's Payne, Cisper and Malloy. It could be different at state, but Malloy handled Payne and won 7-4.

I would say that 5a is pretty wide open, and from what I understand, Malloy hasn't lost since the first week of the season. Exucuse me for being biast towards my former teammate, but I think he has as good a shot, if not better, than Payne to pick up the title this season.

Malloy's loss came to Steinmetz though so you can't count him out either.

I agree, I think it is too early to be predicting anything, as it could easily go to any of those three.

I wasn't afraid to wrestle this weekend. As most people already had heard i dropped some weights on my chest while lifting in class. And I had soft tissue damage on the right side of my sternum. So as soon as i am better I will be back. It may be this weekend or the next all that matters is i will be back by regionals.

Well see I had two of them. and they decided they would talk instead of pay attention, and when i went to re-rack the weight the bar slipped out of my hands and fell right on my chest, i am just glad it wasn't my neck.

Wel lthat sucks to be you, i never did like the bench press anyway. But then again maybe your school shoudl invest in a safety rack its pretty cool.

Ya know, Nigel, I've never had beef with you or anyone else on here, but that was quite the @ss-holish thing to say. Grow up a little. You're directing that towards a kid who just happened to get hurt because of others inattentiveness. Maybe you're a little tender because his accomplishments far exceed yours. Also, have you ever been to a big high schools' weights class where no one really knows each other, let alone are friends. Kids don't pay attention too well to others who are trying to actually work. I suggest you drive to JC or Salina and check out their weights classes; probably not too much working by anyone who's not an athlete.

I agree. The whole, "it sucks to be you," has gotten very old. How about we don't say it again...ever.
