Have no fear, wrestling fans, for Prant is not the only witty one in the family...

Yesterday, after President Bush spoke at Kansas State University (go 'Cats), a man stood up and asked the President if he had seen a movie about homosexual cowboys. That man happened to be related to me.

http://movies.crooksandliars.com/Bush-Brokeback.mov

The story has been picked up by the LA, Financial and New York Times, as well as the Drudge Report and 'Inside Edition.'

What a glorious country we live in.

The following is a story from a Des Moines TV station:
Bush Caught Off Guard By 'Brokeback Mountain' Question

POSTED: 6:50 am CST January 24, 2006MANHATTAN, Kan. -- President George W. Bush hasn't seen the movie everyone's talking about these days.

Someone asked Bush at a question and answer session at Kansas State University if he'd seen "Brokeback Mountain," since he's a rancher and all. Bush said he hadn't.

The president, clearly caught off guard, hemmed and hawed when asked his opinion of the movie.

Bush -- after some hesitation, and laughter in the audience -- said he'd be glad to talk about ranching, but said he hasn't seen the movie.

The audience laughed some more, and Bush, who owns a ranch near Crawford, Texas, said he's heard about the film.

The guy who asked the question told the president, "You would love it. You should check it out."

"Brokeback Mountain" is a cowboy romance about two ranch-hand buddies who conceal a long homosexual affair from their families. The movie has won four Golden Globe prizes, including best picture honors in the drama category.

Prant just sent me a PM, saying that I should not have used the word "fag" in my post, explaining that it was inappropriate for use on a public forum, and not a very funny joke. So, in that spirit, if I offended any homosexual wrestlers in any way, I apologize. Or even wrestling fans. Or wrestling parents.....wait, if they are a parent, I guess they couldn't be gay. Unless they have just found out they are gay. However, I still think that if you are a homosexual (gay) wrestler, you should move to Texas, which reminds me of another joke, but it's probably not very politically correct either. And I doubt if I see the movie.....I just can't see John Wayne doing a gay western, or Robert Duvall, or Clint Eastwood, or even Tom Selleck. Well, maybe Tom Selleck. What's next, a gay version of Tombstone? Anyway Prant, sorry if I offended you.

I know I would not be bragging about a friend or family member showing this type of disrespect to the President.

Sadly, Grant failed to comment on the most compelling moment of the question and answer session - that of the Kurdish woman thanking the President and our brave armed forces and instead chose to focus on the ridiculous (and certainly not witty) moment most Kansans were embarrassed to see.

I've got a great idea. Sichard and Sike could reproduce the movie at state this year before the finals in the form of a short play. You guys could show respect for Bresident Push by explaining the morals of the story in a way that you feel he will understand and relate well to.

So, are you saying that in order for someone to be offended by your comment, they have to be gay? Because that is like saying that the only people that can be offended by someone using the n-word are black people. Me, I am a heterosexual white person, but do get offended by both. But just because I get offended, that doesn't make me gay or black.

You're not black?

If you can't laugh at the president, and I mean any president, then you have absolutely no sense of humor.

I wasn't saying there was anything wrong with that I was only saying that just because someone gets offended by someone's comment, that doesn't make the person gay, black, white, hispanic, short, tall, bald, fat, skinny, goodlooking, ugly, rich, poor, etc.

One of the things that make this country great is our freedom of speech. The idea that some goofball from Kansas who is related to Prant can ask the leader of the free world what he thinks of a controversial movie about gay cowboys is not disrespectful it is what makes America awesome and superior to other countries. People cannot offend you without your permission. Someone once told me that the "word" is only a word and not the thing. In other words you cannot get wet if someone uses the word "water".

I am not offended that Prant's family member asked that stupid question. I wonder what he/she was thinking? Here is a chance to ask the President any question, and you ask about some movie? Of all the question that could be asked, securing our borders, reforming public education,
court reform, leting people invest thier own social security, help for the farm economy, ect.
Oh well it takes all kinds, and in the USA we have the right to ask stupid questions.

honestly-

I would ask about the borders and what can we do to keep people out. Also was it in the best interest to have the free trade agreement?

One of the great things about our country is that you can ask the most important person in the world such a stupid question without waking up the next morning in jail. And, to be honest, we can have a semi-stupid thread on a wrestling web site, practicing our right to free speech and political incorrectness. I, for one, am offended by romantic movies about gay cowboys.

While at Kansas State, a question related to Title IX would have been nice. Especially if finding a way to bring wrestling into it.

see I don't think as well as I once did- Title IX would have been a good one for the wrestling community- but for my softball community not so good*L*

The thing I have going for me with softball right now is that they need it because of wrestsling and if they cut wrestling softball will soon follow- I am afraid.

Mr. Prez- do you really think your "No Child Left Behind" is helping matters? Is more testing really good for kids/teachers? Will it produce the kind of citizens that we want? As a teacher, i'm all for education - it is important. However, i think NCLB is pretty darn silly . . . and that it does more harm than good.

When you have time Mr. Prez - please read the link below about "No Dentist Left Behind".
