Okay, so I am confused about the 6 & under kids. Do they or do they not get to wrestle at districts and/or state. In district 1, it says 6&under and novice records do not qualify. Our club has 8 kids in this age group and at least 4 of them have the potential to go on to someplace like state. I guess I need to know how this works. Is there a special tournament for 6&under or do they just go to the same place as the older kids???

If your kid wants to go to State he/she can but will have to wrestle 8&U at Sub-Districts, Districts & State.
Or you can go to the 6&U Championships which will be run at the same time & place as your District Championship Tournament.
As for records District II uses the 6&U record, If you didn't you would have at the smaller weights 5 or six kids with no record. How would you seed them? I know last year in my son's bracket at Sub's there was one 8yr. old and seven 6yr. old's and the 8yr. old didn't make weight.

I didn't realize that they counted the 6&U records in some districts. We too are in district 1 and last year my son wrestled 6&U becuase his brother was the same weight at 8&U, and at the sub-distrcit seeding meeting they refused to use his 6&U record, reguardless of the fact that he was a state qualifier the previous year. However, he took 2nd without being seeded, so I don't really think seeding matters. Sooner or later you are gonna have wrestle everybody.

Our son placed 2nd at State in 1997. He was in his 2nd year of wrestling and was entered in 8&u 40lbs. He was also 5years old. If you look you will be surprized how many in 8&u at State are really 6&u all year. One of the good things about no record is his/her element of surprize. He also beat the #1 seed at sub-district because he had no record. Go for 8&u and enjoy.
