Good to hear that Dighton is starting their program up again. I grew up in a wrestling family in Atwood (70's), and ended up working in Ness City from 1987 to January 2000. I sure hated the fact that I was in one of the few Western KS towns without wrestling. Ness City started a program around '93 or so and hired a coach, only to have a new school board promptly dump the program. They had already bought new mats, uniforms, and everything.
Anyway, to make a long story short, we formed a club and bought the mats. I helped coach a kids team in Ness City for my last 5 years there. We had some success, with as many as 25 kids in the program. Even had an 8 yr old place 3rd in state one year. This particular boy would be about a freshman now, and he loved the sport. I believe he would be interested in wrestling with you if such a thing could be arranged. Anyway, there could be some interest from Ness City if any such arrangement could be worked out.
