2. Hutchinson
3. Ark City
4. Garden City
5. Goodland
6. Manhatten
7. Colby
8. Emporia
9. Abilene
10. Columbus
Please feel free to talk trash and dispute my picks, then offer your own

Seth
I am guessing you are just jabbering. I will bet you probably can't name any two of the guys on the Hoxie team. I know this: They wrestled the Manhattan team which took 2nd in the state last year in 6A and finished ahead of them. Hoxie has every point back from last year. You are entitled to an opinion but it would be nice if you had a clue. One thing I am darn sure of is you will not hear any of the schools that wrestle them like Colby, Goodland, Manhattan etc saying anything as ridiculous as you did.

Hoxie placed 2nd at last year's Beloit Invitational (ahead of Manhattan and behind Clay Center) - without the services of three varsity wrestlers that weekend (Charlie Ochs 112, Matt Schippers 130 and Doug Campbell 152). All were sophomores last year - BUT Ochs placed 3rd at state as a freshman and 4th as a sophomore, Schippers placed 5th at state as a freshman and 3rd as a sophomore and Campbell wrestled varsity as a freshman (at 152) and placed 5th at state as a sophomore!

The scary thing is that Hoxie is projected to be even better this year.

Seth - one would have to question your awareness of Kansas wrestling here. In a separate post you indicated that you had never heard of Jake Strait (a 2x state champ from Concordia who is looking for his third title this year). And your statement under this post is quite suspect.

Hoxie competes in the NWKL, as do two perennial 4A powers Goodland and Colby. Hoxie also fares quite well against all comers at the Beloit Invitational, Goodland Holiday Classic and Colby Dual Tournament each year.

Ask Liberal, Shawnee Heights, Washburn Rural, Colby, Norton, Goodland, Oakley, Abilene, Clay Center, Scott City, Concordia, Kapaun, Manhattan, Effingham, Ellsworth, Salina South and Dodge City (to name a few of the larger schools and tougher teams Hoxie faced last year). I strongly suspect they will disagree with your opinion on this one.

Being from one of the other NWKL schools and a wrestler I can tell you that Hoxie is 4 real. It helps that they have a very good coach in Mr. Baker. The jr. class this year will be one of the toughest in the state. The only ? is who will be wrestling 4 second place team wise in 321A?

Hoxie would certainly appear to have the inside track and a clear advantage in 3-2-1A this year, but don't give them the trophy just yet. Most of the state thought the same about Hoxie's 1987-88 team too, but we only finished third that year - despite being heralded as one of the best team's in the state regardless of classification.

Injuries, illness and a big-time choke on my part all prevented Hoxie from taking home the team trophy that many had already awarded us.

Hoxie is as talented as anyone in the state this year. But when you only have 20 kids +/- on the entire team (and 14 weight classes to fill) your varsity team has to be healthy and injury free for the last two weeks of the season.

GO INDIANS!

So I am guessing you have never even seen them. Just how do you form an opinion?
