Check this out, for all those who say 5A and 6A are just as tough if not tougher than 4A... 4A only has 4 guys with losing records out of around about 224 wrestlers. 5A and 6A combined have over 70 wrestlers with losing records... seriously, you must be jokin or doin crack if you say that 5A and 6A even come close to 4A!

Obviously that means the competition through 5A & 6A is much more evenly matched!

Or that means that 6A and 5A wrestlers are losing more to 4A wrestlers.

Just becuase the conpetition in upper classes in more evenly matches doens't mean its tougher competition in the lower classes.

Enough of the records crap and congratulations on making it to STATE... even if you suck. At least your not out ballin' it up (basketball), instead your puttin the time the blood, sweat and tears to RASSLE. High five whoever you are for qualifying for state with a 1-15 record, AT LEAST you knew when it was time to step it up a notch!

Hey computerized shoes. They didn't step it up a notch, the regional was just down to their level. Eight man brackets with two byes, come on, my sister could qualify there.

I tried to talk her into it. But it would take away from her debate? HaHa

The whole argument comes down to numbers. 4a has more teams and more wrestlers than 6a and most(not all) of your athletes in 6a have more choices about sports oppoutunities. I was a 4a wrestler and I am now a 6a assistant coach, both have there advantages and disadvantages. When I was a high school wrestler I thought 4a was tougher but now I can not make a judgement. THe lose/win ratio is of no answer and bickering is useless. I say look at the good guys in all divisions and lets have a Grand State tourney again to decide who is the best in the state regardless of classification.
Just a thought on how everyone could be happy. Or even better lest just combine them all, like freestyle nationals and make it a 4 day or 5 day tourney!

I would like to see a Grand State again!

Find out who the real State Champ is. Like California or New York, they only have one division.
There are good wrestlers at each of the Kansas divisions. Don't forget 321A also gentlemen.
What I would like to know is how many people who qualify or place at state have USA-Kids experience. Sometimes we get to see High School State Champs match up at Kids State. Don't miss it its a good time in ol' Topeka.

You've got to ask yourself is being in a 64 man bracket really worth all the hassle. That is a lot of opportunity for someone to have a mind glitch. Even if someone is really the best wrestler they might have 1 bad match and get sent to the backside. Although it would be really cool to see something like this happen.

I agree with Nigel on this one. I would have a tournament after state with the top 2 from each weight and class. Or maybe a round robin between state champs. Or we could go back to the way it was in kids with subdistricts, then districts, then state. Oh well, wishful thinking.
Regarding classes and how hard each class is, it really varies from year to year. This year, I would say 4a has the overall edge, just by glancing at some of the names throughout the brackets. But the others are not far behind.
