At Caney Valley
119 - Ross DeVoe, Col vs. Keith Shepard, Indy

I talked to DeVoe's Dad earlier and he said he had been sick since wednesday night.

DeVoe jumped out to an early lead but then got tired, got put on his back, then later was reversed and was losing buy one with 30 seconds left when they went out of bounds. He looked like he was done, but he had one more burst off the whistle to reverse Shepard to his back and hold on for the win.

East Kansas Duals at SM East HS had some good match-ups at 171 pounds.

Blake Malloy (Shawnee Hts.) def. Kyle Flory (Baldwin) 2-1 in 2OT (**it was the first match of the year for both of them)

Flory def. Mike Steinmetz (Turner) 5-2 (**it was first match of the year for Steinmetz)

Steinmetz def. Malloy 2-1 in 2OT (rode him out for :30 in tiebreaker)

There was a great match at the wamego invitational between Erisman from DeSoto and Sutton-Kearn from Concordia. Erisman controlled the beginning of the match but soon started to make mistakes that Kearn capitalized on. As time was running out Erisman was leading by one point and held on for the win after Sutton-Kearn was a few seconds late on his takedown at the end of the match. Concordia ended up winning the tournament i believe with Abilene finishing second without Geske and Peterson.

Maybe you're not an ugly human, but a good looking ape.....with exceptional verbal skills.

At Sainty Tourney:

Garcia(CO) over McKinney(SC) at 140

Olsen (CO) over Ross(SF) at 171

Not sure they are HUGE upsets, but they are big wins in a couple of big early season matches. They were both very exciting and hard fought matches.
