Can anybody tell me where I can go to become a certified ref? Are there any clinics that anybody knows of over the summer and if it costs to do so, and if so how much? Thanks.

Buff - To get certified, you need to contact the KSHSAA next fall and obtain a registration packet. Then attend a rules meeting and take a 100 questions multiple choice test (open book). I think the cost is around $40. You'll spend about another $80-$100 getting pants/shirt/shoes/etc. Then you're ready to go.

I personally think it is to easy to become an official, and I do a little umpiring of softball, its the same stuff, you take an open book test, but does this mean you know the rules or does this mean you are reading the rules and seeing how they compare to the questions.
That doesnt mean you know where you should be at all times.

Another thing, if you get certified to officiate high school it only cost $5 more to get certified for kids as well.
