I'm looking for a one day tournament around the second week of December.

Coach, where are you from and how far do you want to travel? PM me if you would rather.

We don't mind traveling, but I would like to find something within an hour to an hour and half away.

That's not travel....our guys would just run if that's all we had to go!
Pratt has a tournament the first weekend, Ulysses the second. The Ulysses tournament is a two day, but it is a varsity and jv tourney. You can wrestle every one of the kids that you have in the room, and score them as "extras" on the JV side.

I would suggest the following:

Sabetha Tri-State Invitational- This tournament has teams from Kansas, Nebraska and Missouri all there last year there were 5 Kansas teams and 4 out of State teams. Auburn, NE ran away with the tournament crown with 12 in the finals this year, but the nice thing is if you go to this you more than likely will get into a full 8 man bracket. With a 9am start time you can rest assured you'll probably be home before 10pm at the latest.

SM Northwest- 12 team field including one team's JV (Blue Springs)from last year. Only 1 of the 12 was not a 5 or 6a team and that was Royal Valley which finished 4th.

Onaga- 11 teams in this field of mostly 321A teams including small school power Silver Lake. 4a Jefferson West took 2nd this year at the tournament. Usually 11 team field at a smaller school tournament leaves plenty of room at each weight with opens to get full brackets. Lot of coaches are accomodating too if your guy goes 0-2 to get an exhibition match added in.

Wellington has a tournament on Saturday the second weekend in December. In the Main Gym is the Varsity Wrestling, and in practice Gym we wrestle JV, so you can bring both squads if you would like.

We are roughly about 20 minutes south of Wichita.
Other Teams include

Wichita Northwest-
Buhler -
Mulvane -
Wellington -
Council Grove -
Circle -
Winfield -
Andover -
Clearwater -

Am I the only one noticing the hour to hour and a half deal? If you want to push that though, Minneapolis tournament (north of Salina by 20 minutes or so) is pretty good.
