Kenny Tyler from West Elk may not be #1 but does deserve a mention in this topic i think he went 32-4 and placed 5th in 3,2,1A @ 112lbs.

I think Simon Orozco, 119#, from Ellsworth is deserving of this title. He beat alot of good competition throughout the year, and had a very good record. When he wreslted our 119 pounder, he dominated him. He also placed 2nd in 3-2-1a.

I guess while we are mentioning freshman , Norton is very proud of their Little Pup Micheal Sprigg.
Micheal wrestles HWT and he was the only freshman in the 275 class in 4A state,he was a joy to watch and although he finished 4th he did a great job for the Bluejays all year long. Norton fans are proud of all their wrestlers and wish them all good luck in the future.

Yes Sprigg is very deserving of this. Sprigg was impressive all year long. Winning the Hoxie Invataiona. I wouldnt mind watching him wrestle Ubben in a few years. I think he would do well against him just not this year. But Norton had a few tough freshman Annon was one otn them I know there were others but he is the one I can think of.

I would still have to say Baldridge. State champ at the toughest weight in 6a. Beat Devon Schwartz.

Although I would like to see Annon as a freshman, so that we can have him for a few more years but he is a sophomore

Personally, I would have liked to have seen Orozco and Brady LaMar go at it. LaMar was as good a freshman as I saw this year; he just had the misfortune to wrestle the Hoxie kid in the semis (and go six minutes) as opposed to the finals.

I would have to say levi younkin ranks right up there. He may not be the best but is in the top 5. He only lost two matches during the year to the same person who he beat once and got screwed over at state and placed second.

I would agree that sprigg would have to be one of the best freshman in the state. he beat alot of seniors. and took 4th at state. thats pretty impressive as a freshman. i wrestled him and we split our matches 1 win a peice but when i lost to him that first match i had no idea how good he would end up being. if he is not a state champion in the future i would be very suprised.

I would have to say hands down it is Josh Baldridge from Campus he won state @ 112lbs and it was loaded with great wrestlers (Knox, Garcia, Ball, and the Maize kid) also he beat D. Schwartz of Great Bend during the year. Also I thought Taplin-AB, Wiscombe-SFT, and Sprigg of Norton were very impressive any time a freshman can place at state in a heavier weight that is mainly filled with seniors then that proves you are a stud plus they did this in a very tough class -4A
But I think the top freshman would go to Baldridge but this is a very good group of freshman wrestlers can wait until they are seniors and get to go to senior nationals.

I vote for Baldridge the kid is a stud in the toughest weight class in 6a for sure. I'd bet he would be right at the top of 5a,and 4a as well.

I also agree Wiscombe was very impressive, he has alot of talent and has great potential of being a state champion in the next few years, I know he always gave the current state champ at 145 a run for his money and should be proud to say he never gave.

Taplin also has great potential, I figured he would pace higher than he did in state but for a freshman who can complain. Good luck to you guys next year though.

Someone no one knows about is Derek Ross from St francis he wrestled 152 and 160. Couldn't make the team because he had 2 senior state placers in his weight. He beat the defending state champ at Nwkl tourney. although pilkington was sick. Lost by 1 point to Colorado state champ. Won the Wichita Classic last weekend.
