Who likes the idea of rewarding points for riding time?
I bet that this new rule would take away most of the stalling. Most of the time a wrestler is ahead, he simply trys to ride his lead out. The ref will always call the top man for stalling unless he is working for a pin. Normally the bottom man is stalling just as much. If the bottom man doesn't try anything, the ref still calls the top man for stalling. Just riding a good wrestler is tough to do. I think that rule makers should consider riding time points in the future.

I recall in my childhood in Iowa that riding time was in effect in the state series of tournaments up until 1971. If I remember right, it was dropped because officials -- at that time -- were grossly inconsistant about calling stalling. I would like to think that that has changed over the years.
I for one would love to see riding time reinstated in high school wrestling. It has never been out of college wrestling and has made for many exciting moments over the years. If the officials can be consistant about stalling, I think it would be a great adition.

There were two refs at 321A that were consitently making horrible stalling calls all weekend....I really was amazed at how bad their calls were, and apparently other people thought so to for I heard them booed quite often. It's a shame they decide a match at state instead of letting the kids decide the match, kids work their butts off all year for this and then some ref throws the match with consitently bad calls...it's a shame.

I don't know if they intentionally "throw the match" per say, but i know how bad it can **** to lose on a contreversial call

It just appeared if their was any controversary it was always with the same two refs,at state I prefer to let the kids decide the outcome, not the refs being lopside on their calls,if your going to call stalling at least call it evenly, one match I watched the one kid did absoultely nothing for 3 rounds, the kid who tried to shoot in,and tried to wrestle ended up with a stalling call in the third when he was trying to keep his kid down and trying to put a hold in while the kid did nothing but crawl for out of bounds.Guess who ended up with the stalling call, the kid on top. These same two refs made calls like that on both days in various matches,I don't think they were out to get someone, they were just making some bad calls.
