Congratulations to all the 2003-2004 KWCA award winners. With all of the success that Norton had this year it surprises me that Coach Samualson was chosen over Coach Johnson. Nothing against Sammy, it just seems to me that Norton overcame great odds to do what they did and in my opinion coach Johnson should be recognized for that.

Has there ever been another year where two award winners were four time state champs? I can't recall any but that's not to say it hasn't happened.

How about 2000 when there was Jeremy Long of Santa Fe Trail (4A), Dusty Spaulding of Emporia (6A), and Travis Stites of McPherson (5A). Each of them was a 4-timer and wrestler of the year.

I would really appreciate anyone's help regarding possible openings for wrestling coaches. I'm certified in math and realize there are many math openings but I want to find a math opening where there is also an option to coach wrestling. Thank you!

CoachLinhart - have you checked http://www.kansasteachingjobs.com/ - don't forget that teacher contracts don't come up until April, so that is when all the openings will really start showing up. Until then I would just try to make contacts to see if anything comes available.

Dale getting the coach of the year is ok, he has been there at oakley a lot and has produced quite a bit, but when you look at what Lippleman was able to do without Guy Miller, I would think that his accomplishment would have been greater. with talent like Younkin and Dennis, Oakley was no surprise to be in the top 5. Scott City, on the other hand, was not chosen by many to finish in the top 10 and certainly not in the top 5! Was this Dale's last year of coaching, or will he be back next year?

Look TIMMMMYY, I know your not trying to take anything away from Coach Samuelson. I think after 31 years of service to the Oakley Wrestling program he does deserve some recognition. I'm also not trying to take anything away from coach Johnson he is a very respectable coach.

i would have to agree with Mike on this one, Coach Lip did a wonderful job with such a young no-name squad, he showed that experience isnt everything in this sports. He turned them into a state champ from being ranked #22 at the beginning of the year, and once again, without star Guy Miller.

Mike
The announcers on Smokey Hills (Brown & Epp) said Mr. Samuelson was retiring.
