I was wondering if anyone knew who would be at Goodland this weekend? I heard a rumor that Holton and Abilene will be there. Should be a great match up at 160 if that is true!!
Any fool can criticize, complain, and condemn- and most do.

Boy o Boy...some of those teams have a long trip out there and probably a long day on the mat as well, could come down to what teams are the most healthy by the end of it...my alma mater...what can I say but OUCH!

Good Grief -- what about 275 in Pool A?
Bedore from Goodland; '03 4A champ at 215 Lewis from Ulysses; '03 4A 275 champ Sprigg from Norton; '03 321A 275 runner-up
And if memory serves me, didn't Scott City have a good young 215 or 275 last year?

Chapman will be outclassed at HWT, but they have Espeseth who was a National Folkstyle Champ on 2 occasions if memory serves right, but he is soft and battling the flu...so time will tell, Chapman's back up 215 will be doing double duty probably, as starter at 215 is a hard working kid, the other 215lber is the laziest wrestler I've ever seen, great in football though, work ethic sucks on the mat.

Scott's 215 is tough. He's only a sophmore but he made it to state last year at hwt in one of 4A's toughest regionals. Not to mention he beat Lewis at their League tourney last year.

Will Bedore and/or Deeds be wrestling this weekend? Both sat out the season opening dual with Hoxie w/ broken bones.

Some good stuff from Goodland--- Round 1 Goodland 63 Hill City 16
hoxie 63 Leoti 15
Burlington, Co. 52 holton24
There was another dual in round 1 but I didn't get the results.
ROUND 2
Scott City 36 Hoxie 30 (Matt gilliland beats Rees mcKinney by 1, Scott city wins at 171 and 189[1 piont[, and gets quick falls at 215 and 275)
Norton 70 Hill City 3
Holton 48 leoti 27
Goodland 36 Chapman 25
ROUND 3
Ulysses 60, Hill City 17
Scott City 72 leoti 3
Hoxie 44 Burlington 29
Norton 38 Goodland 30 (Bedore is BACK! wbf Michael Sprigg!)
Undefeated teams at this point are Ulysses, Burlington, Norton and Scott City. Burlington has a VERY impressive 189 pounder that I am sure Ponderosa would like to have-- a freshman that just doesn't seem to need rounds 2 and 3 . Miller from Scott City, is looking really good, and Brett Isenhauer beats Jason schippers , I believe his first loss? REally great minute to minute coverage on KLOE Radio all day, two dual matches are featured each round, no breaks for advertising except some 30 second stuff at breaks, A lot of towns seem to think they are wrestling towns, but Goodland is the only one I can think of that will support their local media for an all day tourney. that takes money and commitment. If you are west of us 281 hwy, tune in to 730 AM truly the PREMIER coverage of wrestling in Ks.!

More Goodland ROUND 4
Norton beats ulysses-- wasn't a featured dual so didn't get teh score , or indiv. highlights.
Scott City 45, Burlington,co 29
Scott city had strength where they needed it, but Burlington had some strength, such as at 189 where FRESHMAN hendricks from Burlington pins Cale Katt after runing up a 10 pt. lead.
Hoxie 46, Holton 31
Strawn doesn't show against an opponent (Cambell) that he should have been able to beat handily-- sick or hurt?
Chapman 69 Hill City 12
Round 5
Goodland 51, Ulysses 28
lots of upsets here, Goodland wrestled really well with falls in the first two weights and upsetting Ryan Seeger at 189.... then Bedore and Lewis going at it hook and tong with Bedore having Lewis on his back in the first period and then Lewis having Bedore on his back in the second, comes down to the takedown, really, at 9-7 bedore.
Scott City beats Holton Was not able to get a score on this one as radio was beginning to go away, don't know who Holton may have held out.
Norton beats Chapman Again no details
Leoti and Hill City wrestled in this round but I don't know who won.
As I understand it, Scott city and Norton are to wrestle this evening for first and second, goodland and Hoxie go at it for 3rd and 4th, and Burlington and Ulysses settle for 5th and 6th.
It sure seemed to me like some of the guys wrestled a lot, how many matches can you have in a day?

Oh yeah, Norton beat Scott City for the tournament championship. This is tournament #3 and championship #3 for the Blue Jays this year (Hoxie Tour, Clay Center Tour and Goodland Dual Tour) -- and they have not had their #1 line up all together yet this year!!!

1st Norton, 2nd Scott City, 3rd Hoxie, 4th Goodland, 5th Ulysses, 6th Burlington, 7th Chapman, 8th Holton, 9th Leoti?, 10th Hill City? I will post the full results as soon as I can get it all put together, probably mid to late week. By the way Goodland radio station KLOE has been giving FULL coverage of wrestling since the early 70's. If anyone is interested I think we may have enough interest to hold a 2 day dual tournament next year. Potential teams from the Denver area, Nebraska, Central & Eastern Kansas, 6 mats all located in the Max Jones Fieldhouse. Please call if you are. 785-899-6116 Randy Bahe

Randy: Congratulations on a REALLY exciting tourney! The quality of the first five teams and a few of the individuals below that made for some of the best wrestling this year, and to be able to reach the (geographic) western third of the state with the radio coverage that you had made it even better.

Hey Egg, The compliment about KQNK was a nice gesture, but it makes me wonder if you listen very often. You seemed to get the location on the dial wrong. It would be KQNK 106.7 fm / KQNK 1530 am . I realize that with all of the excitement that the Bluejays have generated that you overlooked the error. As for KLOE radio , they have always done a excellent job on broadcasting ,although there has been several radio stations in the western half of the state that does a good job also. I would like for everyone to check out all the stations coverage of wrestling sometime, some of the stations that I have been associated with are KFNF-Oberlin,KQLS-Colby,KLOE-Goodland,Eagle broadcasting-Hays,KQMA-Phillipsburg,and acourse KQNK- Norton.I know that KQNK has streaming on the computer and they have had hits as far as Bosnia and Korea. You should contact your local stations and see if they also have this feature. Hope all that listens enjoys and hope they will support these broadcasts, finacially and spiritualy.
