Much to my own personal sadness, I found out over the past couple of days that Immaculata High School in Leavenworth will not participate in wrestling this coming season. The reason given was lack of numbers, as only two wrestlers reported for the beginning of the season. Credit to the Imac administration for giving the program every chance to pick up a few more kids, but it just didn't happen. Hopefully, they'll be able to regroup in the offseason and come back again next year.

This is disappointing news...
Will the Imac wrestlers be able to compete at Leavenworth HS or one of the other area schools such as Basehor-Linwood, Lansing or Pleasant Ridge, or perhaps their hometown school (if not one of the above)???

Unfortunatly, it's too late in the game for that. Sharing agreements have to be signed no later than October. There was still hope at that point that they'd have plenty of kids, but as push came to shove, it didn't happen.

Isn't there some sort of rule that allows individuals to compete in a sport at another school if the school they attend doesn't offer that particular sport...
I seem to remember that before Imac had girls soccer, those girls who wanted to play competed w/ Lansing or Leavenworth...They weren't "combined" teams as they competed as simply Lansing or Leavenworth...
I may be wrong, but regardless, if those Imac kids can't compete because their school can't field a team, the KSHSAA needs to make some changes...

All of that is true, but there is a deadline — I think it's in early October — that has to be met for that kind of arrangement. The good news is that the powers that be are planning on rebuilding. There are to start — FINALLY — a middle school program and discussions of a kids program of some type. Also, the Imac Invitational (Dec. 20) has been taken over by Pleasant Ridge, and I'm sure they'll do a great job with it.

Dear Coach Holmes:
Does KSHSAA have any hardship provisions? Surely these wrestlers would qualify if there were some sort of provision.
How can KSHSAA have an October deadline when the season does not start until November?
Have you called Rick Bowden at KSHSAA regarding the matter?
GorillaHawk is correct, if there no provisions in place to assist these competitors, the matter needs to brought to the attention of KSHSAA in an effort to remedy this situation for future competitors!
