As for my opinion it is very important to keep your body in the best shape all year around- of course if you see me you know my shape is round *L*

Eating right and working hard should be done 24/7 365.

Some great comments on the one web site with the booklet. At the bottom of one of my web pages is a number of articles on cutting and/or healthy weight maintenance. Things we have learned over the years also include lots of water, fruits, raw veggies, and eat 5-6 small meals a day. I know the rules of how to maintain weight, but don't follow them as well as I should for myself. The link to my web site here is: http://www.furches.org/wrestling/links.html Go to the bottom of the page and you will see a number of links having to do with weight cutting. I especially like the article on The Mat because it talks about not cutting weight and finding your natural weight. There is also a great book out, that I know gets spammed a lot, called Winning State Wrestling by Steve Knight. It is a great book and looks at diet and other factors including mental preparation among other things. I still think that if I only had one book for wrestling, it would be that particular book.

I'm no expert but I'd say if you insist on not eating very much, eat just meat (either turkey or beef) and drink water.....

So if you lose 2lbs during practice... eat 4oz. of meat and drink 12oz of water so you're gaining back half of what you lost and keep doing that so you always have energy to keep going and water in your system to help keep you hydrated. Then if you're still too much over when it comes down to 2 days before quit drinking and just eat some... you should be able to pull yourself down pretty easily.

And when you do eat something, it gives your body something to break down, and a lot of times if you eat light enough your body will lose as much weight by digesting that food as you gained from eating the food. And the most important thing is to eat something for breakfast to give your body something to have during the day. It really is the most important meal.

personally. cutting weight sucks. eat whatever you want, whenever you want. as long as you feel good about what you did at state. it doesnt really matter what you eat. a little side-note, there aren't any wrestlers on my team that cut weight right. and looking at it from a bigger picture im guessing the heart of our lineup is going to be cutting 10-15 lbs a week, and i still dont think teams will touch us. cutting weight is overrated especially when you have to get "dedicated" and go on a diet...
and i agree with chenoweth, if you are going to cut weight, and dont feel like going on a diet. make breakfast ure favorite meal. oat meal is good stuff
