what was the outcome? I thought kmc had a serious chance to win the duel. Any predictions on the city league tourney. Carroll is obviously the favorite but tight race for second with nw south and kmc. I think kmc has a chance for maybe 5 or 6 city league champs would that be enough to win it?

Carrollsweepsduals
BY SCOTT SEEL
Wichita Eagle correspondent
Jamie Finkeldei's Bishop Carroll wrestling team knew all along it would need to beat three of the best wrestling teams in the City League in a few short weeks in order to have a shot at another league title.
And that's precisely what they did.
The Eagles swept their double dual with West and arch-rival Kapaun Mount Carmel on Thursday, beating host Kapaun 27-20 and West 78-5.
The wins give Carroll an unbeaten City League duals record and half of the points necessary to win the league title. The other half will be awarded at Saturday's league meet.
"We're just very happy to get the win," Finkeldei said. "It was a tough dual because it had no flow to it, and we weren't able to get any momentum even though we were winning. To our credit, we kept winning."
The first match set the tone for the dual.
Kapaun's Stephen Santiago and Carroll's John Keller were tied at 2 after regulation.
And after the first overtime.
And after the second overtime, when Keller was awarded the victory by decision.
"We knew it was going to be like that," Finkeldei said. "We're going to keep seeing them (Kapaun), too, at City League, regionals and state."
Kapaun coach Tim Dryden wasn't surprised, either.
"They're still the best team in the city, but if we wrestle them 10 times, we're going to win some," Dryden said. "We won the matches that could have gone either way."
In the 152-pound division, Kapaun elected to forfeit to Carroll's David Loos by bumping Chas Snodgrass up to 160.
"Loos is what I would consider their best kid," Dryden said. "We felt like we still ran the risk of getting pinned there and we were hoping we could get a win at (160)."
The strategy didn't play out quite as Dryden had planned, as Snodgrass lost 3-0, but only after Carroll's Thomas Ronck scored three third-period points.
In the third dual of the night, Kapaun defeated West 67-12.
