KSHSAA
Rule 30
Art. 2: A student who is enrolled at the start of a season of
sport, must be a member of the squad for the majority of
the scheduled varsity contests, in order to be eligible for
post-season competition. (See Rule 14-1-1, Bona Fide
Student; and Rule 22-1-3, Outside Competition.)
My understanding of this rule is if your team has a possible 20 matches per wrestler during a season. Then in order to participate at regionals and/or state an athlete must compete at least 11 times in varsity matches. Is this a correct assumption? What happens if you have two kids going back and forth all year in wrestle-offs and one beats the other right before regionals and only has 9 total varsity matches? Or someone goes down injured right before regionals and the team is trying to fill that spot with a JV guy who has no varsity matches.
