Greco wrapup from Indy:
Lost by 9 to Indiana for 7th place to finish 8th. Our goal was to place, but an exciting and wild finish by almost coming from behind to win the duel. We were 4 points behind going into the heavyweight match and had to pin to win outright. Not really fair for Jessie Austin from Baldwin, but he went out like a stallion against a HW his own size and did what he could, knowing we needed the fall to win the duel. Jessie got us in the medal round by winning the deciding match by fall against NJ, but this time he came up short, slipping out of a headlock and getting pinned. Heartbroken but elated to place, the kids all showed guts and class. We had people congratulate us on the way we handled adversity- Bo Pursel had Indiana's 85 on his back for maybe 30 seconds with all 3 refs signalling a fall, but the "head official" overruled the fall saying the signalling was not simultaneous. That would have put us in the lead going into the HW match, needing only a decision to win. The way Mike Pursel and Charlie Knox handled that was a lesson to the kids. Now on to freestyle with NJ first- another tough test. Tired but ready to roll- Go Team Kansas!
