We have changed our novice tournament to Feb. 24, 2008. We are still giving out 4 individual plaques for each age division and 4 plaques for team points and 1 over all team plaque. Flyer is on the calendar page.

We have also changed our venue. It is at harper jr high school in Harper, Ks. Address is on calendar page on flyer.

On the flyer on the calendar page, it shows 12U in Morning and Afternoon.
8U and 10U are in Morning
6U and 12U are in Afternoon

We will be using the Haysville theory of Novice. I think it is the best definition of novice so far that includes all wrestlers that deserve to go to a tournament and could get experience and have some success with it.

Guidelines for entries: Wrestlers who have NOT yet earned 10 medals in their wrestling career with at least six in the bracket (self included) to count, and have NOT placed first or second in an open tournament with at least six in the bracket (self included), No matter how many years of wrestling. If you have earned 10 medals in your first year you are NOT eligible for this event!

We will need time to have our club attorney look this over.

What are you talking about? The tournament directors can set up the tournament how they want to. Until there is something written on what novice is, it will be up to the club and tournament directors on how they will accept their entries. If you are worried about something that will help a struggling wrestler than you are in the wrong sport. For our wrestling club and me, it is all about the youth wrestlers and making them become the best that they can. I trust that the Coaches know who should be wrestling novice and who shouldn't be there.

You better check with your club attorney if it is ok for me to give out outstanding wrestler and team plaques since that is not common either. I commend Haysville for giving struggling wrestlers a chance to wrestle and have some success instead of going week in and week out with losing two matches and going home. This is why We are following Haysville lead and welcoming the struggling wrestlers to our tournament.

I will be splitting up the 1st/2nd year wrestlers from the more experienced wrestlers where ever possible, so we can have a great day of wrestling with great competition.

We are starting to get entries. Remember we are only accepting around 200 due to the space issue. Please get them in early. I don't like turning kids back but I also don't want the gym so congested that everyone is miserable. We would to see some great competition and to give the mat time for our future wrestling stars from Kansas and Oklahoma. We will see you on February 24.
