I think if they kept scores by classification 5A would run away with the title.
It amazes me that 4A, 3A, 2A, and 1A do not have any good wrestlers yet the "Small Schools" are 3-0 against the "Big Schools" in the Senior Classic since the format was changed.
Wrestler selection plays the biggest role in that dual. If you just took the State Champion at each weight, that 3-0 streak would change pretty fast. Well its not just the selections .. some wrestlers are asked and just plain don't want to wrestle in the dual. I was asked and declined the invitation, then showed up to watch and the 135lber for 6a didn't show up so they asked me again on the spot and I decided to fill the gap and wrestle.
I believe they ask some of the best wrestlers to wrestle and some just straight decline the invite then the selectors work their way down the list.
So I wouldn't say the selector is to blame.
