I noticed a coach from a team I will not mention video taping the finals and consolations at the Classic this weekend of certain wrestlers. The interesting thing is none of the matches were of his team. What is legal or should I say ethical when it comes to video taping opponents? I know how crazy some parents are about winning at all cost but coach's taping other kids to get the upper hand? Just curious on how far parents and in this case coaches have to go to win. The funny thing is I did not see either of this coach's kids wrestling in the Classic. Maybe they were both at home sick and he was taping the matches to show them what they missed??? Thoughts???? Should we have to tape other kids?
I don't think we should intentionally tape matches in which your wrestler isn't in. I tape all of my son's matches for 2 reasons... 1. His Dad wants to see them 2. So we can show him the good and bad things from his matches. We never go back and watch them again to strategize.
Interesting question. The rule book says the following:
"Videotaping or filming is authorized unless prohibited by the state high school association. Any videotaping or filming for the purpose of reviewing during competition, howerever, if prohibited." Rule 10-1-2 2007-08 NFHS Wrestling Rules
