This a qualifying tournament for the state tournament. Everybody has had 3 months (10 to 12 open tournaments that are not a state qualifier) to figure out where their child might fit. Scales have also been available every practice and at every tournament for almost everyone. I guess I just do not understand people who do not undertsand weigh-ins and procedures. This is not novice it is the open division with typically 3 or more years of experience coming into subdistricts. Last year at subdistrict weigh-ins a high school kid came in 10 minutes before the scales closed (this was the first time he weighed either day) and he was 10 pounds over his signed up weight. He asked us if he could go to the bathroom - he was dead serious. We said sure and he did go to the bathroom and came back to check his weight. Guess what he did not make weight - 155 ounces over.
