Here is my opinion on the matter:

At the coaches meetings at novice tournaments at the beginning of the year the referee always asks, "ok, coaches, do you want to give a warning on locked hands before giving a point?"

As the year progresses, the refs always say, "at this point in the year we should all know that you can't lock your hands, so we'll be awarding a point following the first locked hands."

Here's my point: making exact weight is a part of the sport. It's in the rule book. We don't allow "just a little bit of a full nelson" or let wrestling continue if there's a headlock that's "just barely illegal."

By the time you get to sub-districts, everyone should know the drill. Every sub-district has a certified scale. I am of the opinion that if you don't make weight, you don't wrestle, end of story.

The fact that girls are forced to wrestle at state in the middle of the week is laughably sexist.
