The whole team arrived today and had their first practice for the 2008 National Women's Jr Championship Camp. All is well and we are looking forward to a great week.
Our Team is Lead by Head Coach Ed Edison Today's ladies were excorted by two of our very dedicated and excellent Coaches...Jason Ogden of Jackson County and Brooke Bogren, KS own 2X National Champ. They will be joined later this week by Lance Engel and our Team Leader, Ms. Jenni Edison.
We have three graduated seniors this year, all three will continue their wrestling careers this fall in college programs.
Beth Johnson of Garden City will return to the USOEC in Marquette, MI
Chandra Engel of McPherson will be wrestling with Coach Archie Randle at Oklahoma City University.
Dannette O' Hara from Columbus will be wrestling at Jamestown University in North Dakota.
We will take a tour of Dannette's school while in ND. The Coach from Jamestown University will pick up our team and take us to the University for a tour and practice session after the camp.
These fine young ladies will also be competing in the National Cahmpionship Tourney and the National Duals in Fargo after the camp.
Jessica Bowman - Eudora Maria Ponce - Rose Hill Kristi Self - Deoto Samantha Lynch - Hoyt Tayler Frederiksen - Lakin
We have the pleasure of bringing one of our incoming freshman as our trainer, Krista Revelle from Meridan.
We are also honored to be joined by four girls from other states that have offically given up their state's status to be a part of Team KS, as their states do not have a women's program to compete with at this time.
Erin Clodgo from Vermont Brittney Taylor from Nebraska Kayla Bartosch from Virginia Kayleigh Longley from Maine
Kansas---This is your 2008 Women's Fargo Team. The KS Krusaders! Let's get ready to rumble.

The Women have been working hard for the past week and they are ready to go tomorrow for the Championships. Everyone has worked to get their weight down and is raring to go tomorrow. I will keep you updated and Randy always does his best as well.
We are all very proud of these young ladies they have wrestled hard and been very aggressive in practice this week. We are looking forward to seeing them in action for the next two days.
Thanks for everyone's hard work and Good Luck Ladies.
Ms Jenni

Chandra Engel is up ... she scores the single on an arm spin counter ... just before the period ended, she again scored on a counter.
Chandra takes a 3-2 lead as she scored 3 on the double leg not bave up two on the crotch lift. Chandra scores one ... she turns her opponent to her back and earns the fall!

The women have a pair of finalist. First is Beth Johnson and the second is Erin Clodgo!
Kayleigh Longley, Brittney Taylor, Maria Ponce, Dannette O`Hara and Chandra Engel will represent Team Kansas as All-Americans!!
Kayleigh Longley battled Jessica Bennett (Connecticut) for 7th place. The match was a 3-period contest ... Kayleigh Longley receives All-American status after finishing 8th!
Brittney Taylor and Maria Ponce were in the same weight-class. They battled for 3rd and Brittney pinned Maria. Both Brittney Taylor and Maria Ponce are your All-Americans!!
Danette O'Hara was wrestling for 5th place. She has to settle for 6th. Danette O'Hara is an All-American representing Team Kansas!
It's Beth's turn!! She is wrestling very very tough, Michaela Hutchison. Beth with the first takedown! Hutchison with the pushout. Beth again with the takedown ... Beth wins the first period. Beth again with the snap and spin. WOW ... there was 22 seconds left in the bout and Beth controlled Hutchinso and won the match. Beth Johnson is a NATIONAL CHAMPION!!!!

... sorry but I figured I would post that right quick!!
That win was huge for Beth! Her opponent was the 3-time defending National Champion, she is the defending FILA Juniors Women's Champ, her accomplishments are lengthy. But this year ... she was handled by Beth Johnson!
As you can imagine ... Beth was a joyous young woman!! As always, there were hand-shakes for all mat side ... and hugs for coaches!

Chandra Engel is an All-American after finishing 4th! Chandra is a class act!!
Erin Clodgo is representing Team Kansas and is wearing those colors as the battled for her own championship. Erin won the first period, 6-2. In the second, she hit a sweet firewoman for 3. A pair of guts later and Erin Clodgo is a National Champion!!
Erin is actually from Vermont but joined Team Kansas several days ago to compete. Like I said, she was bearing the Kansas colors and represented them well!
