The screening system is up and operating. In order to obtain a coaches' card, you must first complete the background check and receive notice similar to the following:
Congratulations! Your background screening has been thoroughly reviewed and meets the qualification standards set by USA Wrestling.
TC logiQ will notify USA Wrestling that your screening has been approved.
Since Kansas requires coaches to obtain their membership through their local clubs, and not directly online through USA Wrestling (as passed by the state body two years ago), you will need to provide this notification to your club so that they know that you meet the requirements to obtain a coaching membership.
Everyone who was a member of USAW last year has been assigned a permanent member number (not the same as your card number) and a password. If you have logged onto the members only site at TheMat.com, you may already have that information. You can use that login information to complete the background check at your convenience by following these steps:
- Go to https://www.themat.com/membership/.
- Sign in or create a new account. (Note: if you were a member last year, you should use the user name and password issued by USAW. If you don't have that number, click on the link provided "if you forgot your USAW ID and/or password").
- Under “Note 1”, click on the link to start the background check. If you do not see "Note 1,"click 'Profile' in the upper right corner of the screen and click 'BG Check History' near the top of the screen. Please note that you will be required to use a different user id and password in the background check website - do not try to use your USA Wrestling user id and password.
- After completing the background check, do not attempt to purchase a membership online. This feature is disabled for Kansas coaches.
- After the background check is complete you will receive an email notice indicating whether or not you have successfully passed the background check. Provide this confirmation notice to the club director, who will then be able to purchase your coaches’ membership from the state office.
As we get closer to the start of the season, every club will be provided with login information for their returning members; if you haven't already completed the background check you will be able to get the necessary login info from your club director at that time.
