For the same reason that a bunch of kids will go to the Ellis tourney and go 0-2. A new kid will get his butt handed to him at Ellis, and he will better because of it hopefully. An average kid will go to the Wichita Classic tourney and get his butt handed to him, go 0-2, and hopefully be better because of it. And a stud should be allowed to go to Ohio, California, or wherever, and possibly get his butt whipped, possibly go 0-2, and become better because of it.
