I will be posting hints/tips/suggestions periodically under this topic so check back frequently. Hopefully this will help answer some questions and make your jobs and mine easier. 1. If you have not emailed me for your spreadsheet to request cards, please do so ASAP. My email is kathyjuby@usawks.com. 2. When requesting coaches cards do not request until you have confirmation they have passed the background screening. 3. With each card request mark with an X ONLY those you are currently requesting cards for. Remove X's from previous requests before sending it to me. 4. It is the club's responsibility to keep track of background checks and birthdate verifications.

1. Because of the change in procedure I am not able to produce rosters for the clubs. You will need to use the spreadsheet I send you to create your own roster.
2. When you are requesting new members be sure to mark them with an X also.

1. Be sure to keep track of which members you have requested cards for. With the new procedure I am not able to tell until we send the information to USA Wrestling if someone already has a card. This is creating problems for us.

1. Please double check your spreadsheets before you email them to me. Make sure you have birth dates on all members. If I have to chase down information it holds up the printing process for every club who has a card request entered for a particular day.

Things are beginning to go more smoothly. It's not great yet, but we're getting there! Please review my posts and/or the Instructions on the website under Forms before you submit card requests.
1. DO NOT alter the spreadsheets before you email them to me. If you do not know some of the information leave that field blank.
Clarification: Kathy asked me to make clear that she is referring to the format of the spreadsheet, not to the entering of new, corrected or modified information. To put it simply, do not move or delete rows and/or columns - it is important for our processes that the layout of the spreadsheets remain constant. - Mike

Please remember to remove X's from previous requests when you send your spreadsheet each time.

I trust everyone had a great holiday season. A couple of items I want to remind you of. 1. Please check your spreadsheets carefully for birthdates on both coaches and athletes. 2. Remove all X's from the Renew column except for those you are currently requesting. I'm still receiving spreadsheets that are not updated. 3. It is very helpful to put a note with your check as to who you are requesting cards for. 4. Please be patient with me. Our household was extremely busy the last two weeks and I am just now feeling like I'm getting caught up. If you try to reach me and can't, send me an email ( kathyjuby@usawks.com).

Coaches: DO NOT apply for a card before you have confirmation that you have passed the background check. I have a lengthy list of coaches who have not passed and yet have applied for a card. I depend on club directors to monitor this. If this is not brought under control immediately I will start holding coaches cards until I send the report to USA Wrestling!

I just finished entering all cards for the last two days. I am missing birthdates on 55 wrestlers and 17 coaches! PLEASE, check your spreadsheets before you send them to me.
FYI: Also, check your emails. If I have a problem I'm going to email you. 72 birthdates are too many to make phone calls!
When one club is missing information on the spreadsheet, it holds up issuing card numbers for everyone!

One days mail 17 coaches, 14 wrestlers. No birthdates. Check your spreadsheets and your email!

Club Directors: Once again, PLEASE do not apply for a coaches card until you know they've passed the background check!

Kathy, perhaps you could post on here the names of the clubs you're having trouble with. I'm wondering if the clubs in question even have access to this board so that they know they are creating problems.

Sports Fan: Thank you for your suggestions. I feel uncomfortable calling out individual clubs. Those that I have had issues with I am working with to solve the problem.

I still am having clubs send in coaches card requests before they have passed the background check. Please remember you must have confirmation that a coach has passed the background check before you apply for a membership card for him/her.

Reminders: 1. Do not let your HS wrestlers drag their heels making a decision on going out for Kids.
2. Double check your spreadsheets. There is a $5 charge for no birthdate and a $20 charge for no background check.
3. Please be patient with me. I am turning cards around as quickly as possible.
4. My mother has gone under Hospice care. I am dividing my time between wrestling cards and her. If I don't respond to you I'm not ignoring you, I just have a lot going on right now.

I know this is "crunch time" for everyone, including me. Once again, some suggestions
1. Double check your spreadsheets for information. 2. Do not alter from the original format 3. Have one person from your club be the contact person for information and questions. Not every parent.

Kathy,
I for one would like to recognize, thank, and express appreciation for all of the hard, time-consuming work you do for the clubs throughout our state to keep things going. You have done an amazing job turning cards out, etc...I have a feeling this has been a difficult and frustrating (and thankless) job this year with the changes that were made.
Sorry to hear about your mother...hope she is doing well. Keep up the good work & THANKS for all that you and Mike do for Kansas Wrestling!

Kathy & Mike -
I agree with Coach O'Hare's comments 100%. You and Mike are awesome!! I can't imagine how many hours both of you dedicate to the sport of wrestling for the benefit of ALL Kansas Kids. Throw on top of that jobs, being parents and taking care of your mom.
Please know that you are respected, admired and appreciated!
