Who wins and what will the scores be?? Some of these guys have already matched up or will be before the season is over. Last match actual results from this season should be used if they have already wrestled.

You need to get a life coakley. Who wins those duals? The only real close matches would be 140, 152 and 215.

321A,
I have one and I enjoy every minute of it. Apparently you are the one truly in search of meaning in your life. You can't even spell my name correctly when it is readily available for you to check. It is easy COKE like the drink, LEY. What is your name?

It will be interesting to compare the above list to one with the eventual State Champions at each weight. I must say I am bias, and I hope some of those names change. We still have over 2 1/2 months of wrestling to go. Maybe, sometime in the near future, we can bring GRANDSTATE back and let the State Champions settle all of these discussions on the mat.

"You are in the one", isnt that a grammer error? Go back to school cokeley. Apparently your life cant be too great or you would have something to do other than write thousands of posts 'bout your daydreams. I agree with you 321a would do poorly this year. What 'bout about other years Leoti in their day Hoxie, Sainty, Norton, Oakley, Plainville and Stockton all produced great teams. And 4a Concordia, Clay Center, Scott City, Goodland, and Colby plus a host of eastern kansas teams that I would put up against any of the 5 or 6a schools in the years that they were great. I just think you need to get over yourself respect opinions of others this is freedom of speech after all right?

"You are in the one", isnt that a grammer error? In order to retain your own credibility while criticizing another poster on their grammar it is beneficial to utilize correct spelling.

"Blaise" you have serious issues buddy. The greatest team ever? Obviously you're a wrestler or a fan of Beloit. You think they could beat bishop carroll last year? I dont think so.

If we are going for the greatest team ever, I've got a bias for Ark City 1990 and 1991.

They were great but its pretty tough to beat a team with 6 guys in the finals with 7 placers (bishop carroll). Thats some big points right there with those 6 guys in the finals. Also Goddard was very good last year. They had 7 guys in the finals with 8 placers, talk about good practice partners!

bigfatwrestler - You are right I am a fan of Beloit wrestling. I also follow Mill Valley and St. James since I'm in western Shawnee. Beloit always has strong wrestling and Mill Valley and St. James are two school to lookout for now and in the future. As of right now my son is a b-baller. So the only excitement I get is this forum and Basketball. Talk about a life !!! LOL..

It is just amazing to me that we don't have a Grand State tournament. Top 6 wrestlers from each classification. This would mean 24 person brackets. Oh forgot my jab!! Grand State then would show the dominance of 321a and 4a wrestling. Happy New Year!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

blaise i agree partially. I Think it is a great idea for having grand state. it is only one more week of competition and we determine a true state champion. i still think we should recognize state champions in each class but a grand state would be the epitome of championships.
I don't completely agree with the 4a/321a dominance. i came from a 4a school (Tonganoxie) and i have noticed, in my opinion, that 5a and 6a have good top talent in state but i firmly believe that 4a and 321a have the best depth.

Blaise,
In the spring of 1981 there was a grand state comparable tournament called the Sunflower Classic. The top 4 from each HS state tournament were invited. I don't believe a single wrestler from Beloit chose to show up.
Beloit was one of the top dynasties in HS wrestling in Kansas back in the 80's. Some of these guys are in the KC metro area but I don't know if any of them have their sons wrestling. I see that Mark Hewitt has his boys wrestling but what about the others?

It only takes me a few minutes a day to post, apparently you spend hours contemplating your posts or searching for the keys to type them. Let me introduce you to another term that you might be unfamiliar with, "multitasking." You agree but you berate me... What is the point? I have no problem but apparently you have one with me. Do I detect some "posting envy??" Happy New Year!

To all,
It is a numbers game... If you draw a line just west of Topeka, you will find 50% of the Kansas inhabitants east of that line. Western Kansas is becoming less and less densly populated. Take out Wichita and Salina you might have less than 25% of the population to make up the majority of the 321A and some 4A schools. It is a trend that is not going to reverse itself. There may be some outliers but the days of western Kansas dominance are probably over. The demographics are changing dramatically as well which likely contributes to dwindling numbers of participants in extracurricular activities.
Other numbers...No arguement that 4A and 321A are deeper. 5A and 6A qualify a possible 50% of their wrestlers to their state tournament. This really represents a greater number than 50% of varsity wrestlers because many of these programs DO NOT fill their lineups. 4A qualifies 25% and 321A somewhere around 25%. So, 18.75% or greater medal in 5A and 6A while less than 9.5% medal in 4A and 321A. Throw in the fact that 5A and 6A schools have far, far more activity opportunities that take away potential wrestlers. Other sports, jobs, etc.
Why is the top better in 5A ang 6A? These wrestlers have the BEST year round wrestling opportunities. I am not talking about team camps and getting your home town kids together all summer. I am talking about magnet practice rooms where the best kids in the area and sometimes the best kids in the country get together and rack up hours and hours of mat time. I am talking about traveling around the country to wrestle the best from all over.
I have heard that western Kansas schools are not receptive to a magnet practice situation. In another words I have heard that it would be taboo to have Norton, Hoxie, Colby, and Oakley kids practicing together two or three times a week year round. I don't know if this is true but if I were out in Liberal I would be seeking a facility in Sublette to invite Liberal, GC, DC, Hugoton, Cimarron, Lakin and others to. I would be soliciting Coach Segovia, Joey Arelleano, and others to work these guys out and create some year round interest. Then the gap between Wichita/KC Area vs western Kansas would narrow. Until this happens I see the gap widening.

Looking back I like how 1990 and 1991 Ark City matched up with Bishop Carroll of 2008. If nothing else we definately get to throw our name in the mix.
