Revoir was leading Williams 12-0 and about to pin him in the second period when he got a little too high and got rolled and consequently pinned. He then came up on the back side of the bracket quite handily, pinning 2 out of those 4.

Revoir is 2 - 0 vs. Sanchez (the last one being a major win in the finals of the JoCo Classic) and
1 - 0 vs. West. Coulda, shoulda, woulda...

I saw the matches and have a good idea what my 6A/189 ranking will look like on Monday or Tuesday. They will likely be unchanged except for #6.

Why is it at 160 Kyle Powers is only ranked 6th after he beat Dalton Stanley, who is ranked 2nd, this past weekend at the Washburn Rural tournament?

Thanks for the info. Better stated this way though.... Kyle Powers beat Dalton Stanley at 160 this past weekend at Washburn Rural. Does Kyle have any criteria over the other ranked wrestlers at 160?

Well he placed higher at newton over Andy by beating the Norton 160 pounder. Another match was beating the Valley Center 160 who also beat Dalton at Washburn Rural. Thanks.

He apparently thinks it is easy keeping track of every high school wrestler in the state.

Pretty incredible story:

Brock Heithous is a junior at Wichita Northwest high school. Brock was the class 6A heavyweight champion in 2008, as a sophmore. In 2009, in earlier rankings, he was the designated number 1 heavyweight wrestler in both class 6A and all-class.

He has evidently now surrendered his heavyweight position to his team mate and friend, Trey Page.

and now:

Trey Page, also a junior at Wichita Northwest, has evidently now replaced Brock Heithous in the wichita Northwest line-up at the heavyweight position, and is now deservedly ranked # 2 in class 6A. Wow!

For those who know both Brock and Trey, this is bitter sweet. Two great kids and two equally great wrestlers. It'd come as no surprise that the Wichita Northwest high school wrestling community lamented the fact that there was no available spot (for Trey) between 215 lbs and 285 lbs.

As much as the Wichita Northwest wrestling fans lament Brock's departure and/or disapearance from the Wichita Northwest wrestling scene (hopefully not his father's, whose passion and zeal, we'd really miss), we are equally appreciative of Trey's emergence as a worthy alternative to compete for a state championship, in the heavyweight division (and that of his parents, who bring their own passion and zeal).

Keep your eye on Wichita Northwest, 6A!

It was earlier presumed that Trey, a junior, was probably going to find it somewhat difficult to beat out his team-mates (Brock, a defending, 2008, 6a heavyweight champion) and another team-mate (Kyle Kaylor, a defending, 2008, 189 lbs champion, wrestling at 215 lbs in 2009).

From all appearances without rancor or resentment, Trey accepted his plight. Then ... Brock's out. Trey's in... and now ranked # 2, in 6A.

Trey is an outstanding wrestler! But not only that, he is a WONDERFUL person. We have personally known the Page family for many years and even though he and Lucas face each other on the mat from time to time, they have remained good friends....Lucas even gave him his stuffed Longhorn animal he won at the fair!! (Trey is a HUGE Texas Longhorns fan). Anyway, both are great wrestlers and it is shame that both can't compete, but congrats to Trey on his hard work!

Trey understood at the beginning of the season there was not going to be a place for him on the Northwest team this year. After struggling to weigh 189 last year he decided to eat again. (His weight is up to 255 now.) He went to practices this season to work with Brock and Kyle.

Trey never wanted to take the heavyweight position away from Brock. He never wanted to challenge Brock for the position. And they never had a challenge. He stepped in and helped out when Brock had an injury. He knew it was for a short time and Brock would be back to go for the state title again.

Last week Brock decided that his heart wasn't in wrestling right now; and it was decided that Trey would take over for the rest of the year. Brock is a super person and a close friend of Trey’s. There are no hard feelings between them. Hopefully Brock will be back next year 100%.

I hope this dispels all of the rumors about Brock and Trey. Go Grizzlies!

sorry that i won't get to see brock on the mat at state this year but based on everything i've heard trey will be a damn good replacement. thanks for filling me in on the story, good to know brock is not seriously injured; i hope he finds his way back to the mat as he is a very special wrestler. i was excited at the possibility of him and vincent going at it in the state finals back to back years but i'm sure page will provide an excellent match up to whomever he wrestles.

After watching Trey and Brock wrestle, I think Trey is the better wrestler, he is able to score on his opponent easier. Sure, they have different styles, Brock is stronger, but Trey is a better wrestler. They are both Juniors, so what happens next year? Have they wrestled each other this year, I know every school has challeges.

HYWT is going to be fun to watch at State, it comes down to 3 really good wrestlers - Page, Westmoreland, and Vincent - Good luck to all!
