With today's rules covering hydration and only being able to lose 8% of the alpha weigh many kids are not cutting the way they used to in the past. With doctor's approval a wrestler may lose more than the 8%, thus ensuring it is healthy for the wrestler to lose more weight. Our system in Kansas may not be perfect, but I do believe it is creating a healthier atmosphere for our wrestlers.
I know Coaches constantly stress to eat a health diet, the body must be fueled to handle the grueling wrestling season.
Chocolate milk after practice, plenty of complex carbs and quality proteins. I often recommend the wrestlers have a morning and after light snack, such as fruit or bagels with low fat peanut butter.
