In the Topeka/Liberty thread someone put something about the split format. Maybe its time to start talking about a split format for state. I had mentioned it after last years state tournament and got some discussion and people willing to help. However, we didnt get far because after state and nationals we all had other things going on. Maybe its time to look at it again.

At Nationals I actually spoke to several different coaches from all over the US and many many of them had attended mostly spilt format tournaments. There was not one negitive comment about the format. Sure you are going to have some who have to stay all day because they have wrestlers in different age brackets but what about the many, many that do not? The ones that still have to be there all day would be whether it was split format or not.

I would be happy to help in any way I can.

If you want to see this happen, I would make three suggestions.
First, contact your district officers this week (prior to Sunday's Executive Council meeting) and let them know that you would like to see this change.
Second, bring the idea up at your district meeting in October. These meetings are a little smaller, which gives you the chance to try and convince the individual club representatives who will be voting at the State Body meeting.
Finally, attend the State Body meeting in November and cast your club's vote.

Personally, I've got some reservations about changing the state tournament to a split format. This is despite the fact that my club's open tournament has utilized a split format for the past four years, with nothing but positive feedback. I'll look forward to hearing the arguments on this, pro & con.

Just curious, can you write me telling me that your thoughts are about it, I would like to see someone on the other side of the idea and this way maybe we can look into something that we havent looked at in the past.

Jeremy

Coach Juby,
Thanks for your thoughts on the format, I agree that it will be difficult to get passed and unfortnatly I will not be able to attend our district meeting, however, I did notify Randy Hinderliter that I would like to see it discussed at the district meeting.

Jeremy
