the 125 lb bracket only had 1 bye! yes hossus we bumped up in age and yes we bumped up weight too!! zach dominated the bracket at state, and needs some tough competition. i was not trying to upset you, but your emotions run very high. i was simply trying to offer your wrestler an end for this year. i could care less whether there is another weight class or not, i would vote for it anyway because ITS FOR THE KIDS. not some of the kids ALL of the kids. but you have to understand that the talk forum is not the place to fight this battle, and your emotions, and comments seem to be making it hard for others to join your fight. you will catch more bees with honey, calm down, relax, and make some phone calls, go to the state meetings. keep in mind you may not win the battle, but keep fighting, keep trying to change, even when your child is past 8u.

suckerpunch,

My son actually wrestled as a 10U this year at state and was prob the youngest of the bunch there. He lost 7-5 one match and had two 20 sec pins on the others and got third in the 170lb group. He won't make that weight next year even if we starve him. It's too bad we don't have challenges for second like they do in OK.

I admit that I sometimes get a bit fired up. My writing skills are not as good as they used to be and might give away more than they should. I just would like to end this cycle of going one year and not the next due to this issue. When I think of what we have went through on this and now others are going through the same thing I get a little bent. I hate to see anyone not given the chance to participate, when there are reasonable solutions.

I don't have any idea who to talk to about this, but God willing I will try to make the state meeting to voice my concerns if permitted. Thanks for the pep talk, I prob need therapy now. It is depressing enough that the season is over.

I don't think there is an issue here w/ liability. We did tournaments in OK and there were kids in the HWT bracket that ranged from 130lbs all the way to 240lbs. So some kids gave up as much as 100lbs and nobody got hurt. Tulsa Nationals had 17 HWT's in the 10U group for instance. USJOC had a big group as well with the same allowable weight ranges. Personally, I thought they should have a 150lb group for 10U down there, but since we are way over that, I guess it's their call.
